About the job:

Our client, a leading MNC in the construction industry, is seeking an experienced Project Director to oversee the development of Data Centre projects in Malaysia. This role will be responsible for the overall project execution, ensuring timely delivery, cost efficiency, and adherence to the highest industry standards.

The role:

Based in Johor or Kuala Lumpur, the Project Director will lead the end-to-end development of hyperscale Data Centre projects, managing stakeholders, project teams, and contractors to ensure successful project completion.

Roles & Responsibilities:

• Oversee end-to-end project execution for hyperscale Data Centre developments, ensuring successful delivery from pre-construction to commissioning.
• Develop and implement project strategies, aligning with client objectives, regulatory requirements, and industry best practices.
• Lead and coordinate multi-disciplinary teams, including design, engineering, procurement, and construction, to ensure seamless collaboration and efficiency.
• Manage project budgets, schedules, and resources, optimizing costs and timelines while maintaining high-quality standards.
• Ensure compliance with local building regulations, international standards (Uptime Institute, TIA-942, ISO), and safety protocols.
• Drive risk management and mitigation plans, identifying potential issues and implementing proactive solutions to minimize project disruptions.
• Establish and maintain strong relationships with clients, consultants, contractors, and regulatory authorities, ensuring smooth project execution and stakeholder alignment.
• Monitor project performance, conducting regular site inspections, progress reviews, and reporting to senior management.
• Implement continuous improvement initiatives, leveraging innovative construction methodologies and industry advancements to enhance efficiency and sustainability.

Experience Requirements:

• 15+ years of experience in construction project management, with a strong background in Data Centre or other mission-critical projects development
• Proven leadership experience managing large-scale, high-value projects.
• Degree/Masters in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
• Certifications in Project Management (PMP, PRINCE2) or Data Centre (CDCP, CDCMP) are an advantage.
• Strong knowledge of mission-critical facilities, M&E systems, and hyperscale Data Centre requirements.
• Excellent stakeholder management, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
