We are looking for a highly motivated and experienced Project Development Officer to lead the development of renewable energy projects across Malaysia. This role focuses on Large Scale Solar, Commercial & Industrial (C&I) solar systems, and Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS). The successful candidate will play a critical role in progressing projects from concept to ready-to-build status by combining technical understanding, stakeholder coordination, and commercial insight.

Key Responsibilities

Develop and manage high-level project development plans for Large Scale Solar, Commercial & Industrial solar, and Battery Energy Storage Systems—including project scope, timelines, budgeting, and resource planning.

Oversee feasibility assessments, site evaluations, and risk analysis to ensure each project is technically and commercially viable.

Support project origination efforts and assess potential opportunities across rooftop solar, ground-mounted systems, and co-located or standalone battery energy storage.

Coordinate with internal functions—including engineering, procurement, legal, construction, health & safety, and asset management—to drive project progress to ready-to-build status.

Prepare and deliver project proposals, internal management papers, financial models, and development progress reports.

Identify project risks and proactively implement mitigation strategies, particularly in permitting, land matters, and regulatory compliance.

Ensure all project activities comply with relevant laws, regulations, environmental requirements, and safety standards.

Cultivate and maintain strong working relationships with key stakeholders such as government agencies (SEDA, TNB, EC, MIDA), corporate off-takers, landowners, EPCs, and technology providers.

Support investment decisions and internal approvals by contributing to due diligence reviews, financial assessments, and contract structuring (e.g. Power Purchase Agreements and lease models).

Keep project pipeline data accurate, complete, and current across Large Scale Solar, Commercial & Industrial, and Battery Energy Storage Systems.

Stay updated on industry trends, evolving regulatory frameworks, and technological developments in solar and energy storage sectors.

Candidate Profile

Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Renewable Energy, or a related technical field.

3 to 5 years of experience in project development within the renewable energy sector, particularly in Large Scale Solar, Commercial & Industrial solar, and Battery Energy Storage Systems.

Familiarity with Malaysia’s energy market, solar incentive mechanisms, Power Purchase Agreement structures, and grid requirements for energy storage.

Strong analytical skills, with the ability to interpret financial models, feasibility reports, and technical documentation.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; fluent in both written and spoken English and Mandarin to effectively communicate with Mandarin-speaking clients.

Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and work independently while collaborating across teams.

Knowledge of battery storage applications such as peak shaving, grid services, and hybrid renewable integration is an advantage.
