Job summary

ABB in Malaysia (Petaling Jaya) seeks a Finance Manager–project controlling to drive financial activities across multiple projects. You will partner with the Project Management team to optimize cash flow, margins, and performance, while supporting tender stages and commercial decisions.

Reporting to the Finance Manager, you will ensure accurate balance sheets, forecasts, risk reviews, and governance adherence within a hybrid work environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or Professional Certificate in Accounting or Finance.
• 5 to 10 years of working experience in project controlling, project finance or controlling in Project environment is preferred.
• Experience in financial project control, with a track record of successfully managing projects is preferred.
• Experience in a multi-cultural team environment is a plus.
• Exceptional analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Proficiency in SAP and Advanced Microsoft Excel skills required, as well as Power BI.
• Fluent in English both written and verbal.

Responsibilities

• Active participation at tendering stage to negotiate on commercial issues and financial aspects for new opportunities of the project execution plan.
• Monthly project review and driving financial performance including optimization of project cash flow, revenues, and gross margin contribution and effectively managing currency risk, and bonds, guarantees, and tax issues.
• Reviewing risks & contingencies on regular basis and take appropriate actions to reflect impact on the project as and when required.
• Ensuring the accuracy of project balance sheet, income and cash flow statements, and monthly/quarterly forecast and participating in opportunity/risk identification, monitoring risk mitigation measures, and ensuring they are timely implemented.
• Promoting commercial awareness in the project team and providing commercial input to the project execution plan (such as T&Cs in supply management, claims, back-to-back conditions).
• Ensuring adherence to ABB’s corporate governance, integrity, assurance, internal controls, and business specific finance directives and instructions.

In this role, you will have the opportunity to drive all financial activities within multiple small-scale projects or a single large project. Each day, you will act as a business partner to the Project Management team, supporting all financial and commercial matters.
