Job summary

Simplex Design Group is seeking a Project Architect to lead design and coordination for projects in Kuala Lumpur. The role focuses on developing concepts, producing drawings and specifications, and ensuring compliance with codes and client standards.

You will work with internal teams, consultants, and contractors, managing submittals and BIM workflows to ensure high-quality delivery. The successful candidate will have a strong architectural background, at least five years as a Project Architect,

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Architecture; Part 2 licensure is preferred.
• Minimum 5 years of experience as a Project Architect.
• Experience with submittals, technical reviews, and drawing coordination.
• Proficiency with BIM tools (Revit) and BIM workflows.
• Knowledge of Malaysia building codes and approvals.
• Strong communication in English; other languages helpful.

Role Description

The Project Architect is a full-time, on-site role based in WP. Kuala Lumpur, responsible for leading architectural design and coordination throughout all project phases. This role includes developing design concepts, preparing detailed drawings and specifications, and ensuring compliance with building codes, sustainability requirements, and client standards. The Project Architect will coordinate with internal design teams, consultants, and contractors, manage submittals and technical documentation, and support Building Information Modeling (BIM) workflows. Day-to-day responsibilities include attending project meetings, resolving design and construction issues, monitoring project progress against timelines, and contributing to quality control and continuous improvement practices. The role also involves mentoring junior team members and supporting the delivery of integrated architecture and design solutions aligned with Simplex Design Group’s vision.

Qualifications

• Strong foundation in Architecture including concept development, detailed design, and construction documentation.
• Experience managing Submittals, technical reviews, and coordination of drawings and specifications.
• Proficiency with Building Information Modeling (BIM) tools and workflows (e.g., Revit or similar platforms) is and advantage
• Project Management skills, including scheduling, resource coordination, risk management, and stakeholder communication.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Architecture (minimum Part 2) from an accredited institution; professional registration or progress toward licensure is an advantage.
• Familiarity with local building codes, standards, and approval processes in Malaysia.
• Ability to collaborate in multidisciplinary teams, provide clear direction, and mentor less-experienced colleagues.
• Strong technical, analytical, and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail and design quality.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills in English; proficiency in additional languages is beneficial.
