Job description

Job Purpose

The role is responsible for overseeing the financial management of projects by ensuring close monitoring of project budgets, tracking costs accurately, and delivering timely financial reporting. This position works closely with project teams to manage billing processes and monitor each project’s financial performance. The role also ensures compliance with company policies and contract requirements and supports audits by providing relevant documentation.

Core Duties and Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with project teams to prepare project budgets, forecasts, and cost estimates, including timely updates based on project progress.
  • Monitor project budgets, analyze variances between budget and actual costs, and track incurred expenses.
  • Prepare and issue client invoices, ensuring revenue recognition complies with relevant accounting standards.
  • Generate and distribute financial reports on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis for each project.
  • Maintain thorough documentation for all financial transactions related to projects.
  • Ensure compliance with internal policies and contract obligations and provide necessary support during audits.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in project-based accounting, budgeting, and variance analysis—preferably within the construction or engineering industry.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial modeling.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills with the ability to build strong working relationships with project teams.
  • Proficiency in accounting software and ERP systems; experience with Navision is a plus.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with a high attention to detail.
  • Exceptional organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
  • Demonstrates high ethical standards with a commitment to accuracy and financial integrity.
