Job Description

Position: Program Officer

Department: Program Development

The Senior Program Officer will assist and support the execution of programs and policies related to Non-Islamic Religious Affairs at HARMONICO, working closely with fellow members within the Program Department and the Program Department Lead. The Program Officer is expected to engage closely with the HARMONICO community, partners, agencies, vendors, and related government departments to execute programs and company initiatives that promote harmony and celebrate diversity among the faith community in Penang and beyond. The task assigned to the Program Officer is not limited to the job scope within the Program Department. The officer is also expected to support other departments when the need arises.

Responsibilities of a Program Officer include:

i.Manage the progress of programs, events and activities at HARMONICO.

ii.Design programs/activities/dialogue that encourage harmonious religious tolerance, and inculcate mutual understanding and tolerance between people of different religions within the community of Penang.

iii.To promote Penang as a Religious Tourism venue by planning, collaborating cooperating with other government agencies and related entities.

iv.To do pre-program preparation, postmortem, and evaluation of the programs/activities.

Qualification & Experience

i.Degree in social sciences, history, communication, event management, law, or related fields.

ii.Fresh graduate or 1-2 years of working experience in the related field.

Skills and Qualities:

i.Strong interest in the diversity of religion and culture in Penang

ii.Good grasp of Microsoft Office programs, social media, and general IT

iii.Detail-oriented with the ability to multitask when needs arise.

iv.Fluent in English, Malay, and Mandarin - the hiring is for a specific project in Mandarin.

v. Good communicator, a great listener, and a critical thinker. Organized and creative problem solver.

vi.Team player, responsible, eager to learn, and displaying a positive attitude.
