2. Scope

The officer shall be a member of the staff of the Kulliyyah/Centre/Department to which he is assigned by IIUM. Responsibilities include teaching, examining, research, and other duties typical of an academic staff member. The officer should also undertake moral and religious obligations towards colleagues and students, attend meetings, participate in university life, and advise students on character and moral conduct. The role encompasses being a teacher (Mu'allim), scholar ('Alim), and moral educator (Murabbi).

3. Key Responsibilities
  1. Preparing and delivering lectures, tutorials, workshops, and seminars.
  2. Conducting laboratory practical sessions and problem-based learning.
  3. Developing curricula and course materials.
  4. Collaborating with colleagues to improve teaching methods.
  5. Setting, invigilating, and grading assessments.
  6. Conducting research and publishing papers, proposals, and books.
  7. Participating in meetings, conferences, and institutional events.
  8. Engaging in training and development initiatives.
  9. Supporting students and colleagues.
  10. Staying current with field developments and producing published work.
4. Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Medicine or Nursing, with a PhD in Medical Sciences, Health Sciences, or related fields recognized by the Government or equivalent.
  • Experience in teaching and research in medical sciences, especially pathology and anatomy, is preferred.
  • Good teamwork skills.
  • Flexibility, resilience, and willingness to work long hours.
  • Strong interpersonal, presentation, and communication skills.
  • Ability to inspire students.
  • Digital literacy skills are highly preferred.
5. Language Qualifications

Candidates must have:

  • Credits in Bahasa Malaysia and English (oral and written) at SPM level or equivalent (for Malaysian citizens).
  • IELTS Band 6 / MUET Band 4. Candidates lacking these must sit for the IIUM English Proficiency Test.
