Samtec Asia Pacific (M) Sdn Bhd in Johor, Iskandar Puteri, seeks a Production Supervisor to lead production associates, ensure safety, quality and on-time delivery, and drive cost efficiency. You will own area performance metrics, implement SOPs/WIs, and train staff.

The role requires strong data analysis, people leadership and manufacturing know-how, with emphasis on lean/Six Sigma and cross-team collaboration. On-site position with standard shifts and EHS compliance.

Qualifications

  • Strong in data analysis and is data driven.
  • People management and leadership skills.
  • Understand manufacturing concept, experience in lean and six sigma is preferred.
  • Must possess good communication skills – written & verbal.
  • Must be able to use Microsoft Office Software (Word, Excel, Outlook, Access)

Responsibilities

  • Manage, lead and supervise a team to achieve the organizational objectives.
  • Be the area owner and accountable for the area / department performance metrics (safety, quality, delivery, cost, ROCK).
  • Ensure policies are communicated; ensure EHS and quality regulatory compliance.
  • Provide proper training to associates and ensure they are certified per SOP/WI.
  • Conduct regular 1:1 and weekly meetings with associates for updates and development.
  • Ensure a safe working environment with PPE and LOTO compliance.
  • Produce product according to print to meet industry standards and customer expectations.
  • Initiate quality improvements to meet OD and PPM targets.
  • Contain and investigate quality issues to minimize cost and prevent escapes.
  • Support OSS scheduling and ensure material availability for on-time delivery.
  • Manage machine and people capacity including OT and vacations.
  • Control cost performance; drive scrap and productivity improvements.
  • Communicate with Techs on priority; troubleshoot defective tooling.
  • Walk processes to identify bottlenecks and address with the team.
  • Monitor metrics and drive continuous improvement.
  • Stop production of non-conforming products.

Job description

Summary/Objective: Responsible for management, supervision and development of production associates to achieve the organization objectives such as safety, quality, delivery, cost, ROCK and strategic focuses. Has a complete working knowledge of the operation of all machines, tooling, procedures, and processes related to the section/ department. Understands and always applies company policies with regards to customer service and associates. Develops and maintains a spirit of teamwork and empowerment among associates.

Essential Functions/ Responsibilities:

  • Responsible to manage, lead and supervise a team to achieve the organizational objectives.
  • Be the area owner and accountable for the area / department performance metrics such as safety, quality, delivery, cost, ROCK (Remove, Organize, Clean, Keep), etc.
  • Ensure company policies are clearly communicated with the production team. Ensure EHS (Environment, Health and Safety) and quality regulatory requirement compliance.
  • Provide proper training to the associates and ensure they are certified to perform their job with the tools provided according to the SOP (Standard Operating Procedure) / WI (Work Instruction).
  • Conduct regular 1:1 and weekly communication meetings with associates to provide/receive updates, feedback, and discuss development and calibration of expectations.
  • Ensure a safe working environment for associates with enforcement of PPE (Personal Protection Equipment) compliance and LOTO (Lock Out Tag Out) application.
  • Ensure product is produced according to the print in order to meet the industry standards and customer expectations for quality.
  • Proactively initiate quality improvements to ensure OD and PPM meet the corporate target.
  • Timely containment and investigation of quality issues (together with MQS/technician etc.) in order to minimize the cost impact and prevent escape to customer.
  • Responsible to support and ensure OSS scheduling of orders by due date and batching opportunity; confirm material availability to deliver orders on time to customers.
  • Work with OSS to manage the expedite system, rescheduling codes and accurate dates.
  • Manage machine capacity and people capacity (this includes associate work schedules, OT, time off, vacations etc.) with alignment to order scheduling.
  • Responsible for overall cost performance in your cost center. Manage overtime according to business requirements, drive scrap and productivity improvements to reduce cost.
  • Communicate to Techs on priority and engage in troubleshooting defective tooling that may cause efficiency or quality concerns.
  • Walk the processes frequently to understand any quality concerns or bottlenecks, and address with the team in a timely manner.
  • Monitor and review metrics regularly; responsible to initiate and drive continuous improvement.
  • Stop the production of all non-conforming products.

Required Experience:

  • Strong in data analysis and is data driven.
  • Experience with Process knowledge for related area.
  • Excellent problem solving, investigation skills, and needs to be detail oriented.
  • People management and leadership skills.
  • Understand manufacturing concept, experience in lean and six sigma is preferred.
  • Must possess good communication skills – written & verbal.
  • Must be able to use Microsoft Office Software (Word, Excel, Outlook, Access)
  • Team player and must be able to work with multiple groups of people (Operators, Floor Managers, Engineers, etc.)
  • Must be able to sit/stand for at least 90 consecutive minutes, and not suffer from any sensory deprivation and/or paralysis of the limbs.
  • Lifting Requirements: Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds from floor to waist.
  • Hazards and Atmospheric Conditions: Must be willing to adhere to department safety rules and regulations. May be exposed to noise (required to wear protective gear). May be exposed to Hazardous Materials & Chemicals (required to wear safety glasses and other protective gear).
Education:
  • High School diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering or equivalent is preferred; not mandatory.

  • On the job training as appropriate.
