Overview
- The Production Supervisor plays a key role in overseeing the manufacturing and assembly of geosynthetic products such as geobags, geotubes, sand-filled mattresses, silt curtains, and cellular bags. This position ensures that production operations run smoothly, efficiently, and in compliance with ISO 9001 quality standards. He must be capable of multitasking in a fast-paced environment and providing support during periods of high production demand.
Responsibilities
- Monitor day-to-day production activities in line with the production plan and schedule.
- Feedback to Production Manager immediately on any abnormality in production.
- Ensure that the product meets the customer’s requirements in terms of quality and lead time.
- Ensure that raw material consumption is within the target set by the management.
- Prepare, implement and ensure compliance with SOP’s and quality management systems and practices to inculcate continuous improvement culture.
- Oversee staff discipline and ensure that any performance problems can be identified and resolved.
- Ensure safe operation of machinery and proper housekeeping practices on the production floor.
- Prepare product samples for QC and Sales when required, follow up with the person in charge, and compile records for production.
- Directly involved in new product development, production and cost improvements, safety enhancements and liaise with the Maintenance Department when required.
- Ensure effective manpower planning, training and development of workers.
- Providing hands-on support in production to assist the team and ensure smooth operations.
Qualifications/Experience
- Diploma in a relevant technical or engineering field is preferred.
- Candidates with TVET certification and significant hands-on experience in a similar role will also be considered
Skills/Knowledge
- Good leadership and motivational skills.
- Possess strong skills in reading and interpreting engineering drawings.
- Monitoring, assessing performance of subordinates to make improvements or take corrective action.
- Intermediate computer skills (Microsoft Office – Excel, Word, Power point etc.)
- Good knowledge of production processes and machinery.
- Raw materials, quality control, costs and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture and distribution of goods.
- Basic knowledge of machines and tools including their designs, uses, repair and maintenance.
Experience
- Supervising a large workforce.
- Experience in handling technical and human-oriented issues on the production floor.
- Able to work night shift / weekend (If necessary)
