An established industry player in the bakery sector seeks a skilled Production Planner to optimize production workflows and inventory management. This role involves developing accurate production schedules, coordinating with procurement, and ensuring timely deliveries to multiple outlets. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in supply chain management, experience in food production, and proficiency in relevant planning tools. Develop and maintain accurate daily and weekly production schedules based on store forecasts, sales trends, and inventory levels.
Coordinate with the procurement and inventory team to ensure availability of raw materials and ingredients.
Plan batch sizes and sequence of production runs to maximize kitchen efficiency and minimize downtime.
2. Inventory Coordination
Monitor usage rates, buffer stocks, and lead times to avoid stockouts or overproduction.
Coordinate with the inventory controller to align raw material ordering with production needs.
Maintain visibility of finished goods levels across all stores and central kitchen storage.
Liaise with outlet managers and operations team to gather order requirements and adjust production plans as needed.
Ensure accurate, timely, and complete deliveries to all 7 outlets with minimal wastage.
Respond swiftly to urgent or last-minute changes from stores, especially during peak periods.
4. Process Optimization
Analyse production workflows and suggest improvements to optimize efficiency and reduce bottlenecks.
Support the implementation of systems for better demand forecasting and production tracking.
Contribute to SOP development for production planning, order dispatching, and reporting.
5. Expansion Support
Scale production planning processes in line with the brand’s expansion plans (new stores, seasonal menu changes, etc.).
Assist in capacity planning and forecasting for new outlet openings.
Help assess whether existing central kitchen resources meet projected demand.
6. Reporting & Communication
Provide daily and weekly production reports to management, highlighting fulfilment rates, variances, and efficiency metrics.
Maintain clear communication with kitchen leads, logistics, procurement, and operations teams.
Qualifications
Diploma or Degree in Supply Chain Management, Food Technology, Business Administration, or related field.
2–4 years of experience in production planning or supply coordination, preferably in a bakery, central kitchen, or foodservice environment.
Familiar with bakery production cycles, ingredient shelf lives, and batch processing.
Proficient in Microsoft Excel, ERP, or production planning tools.
Strong organizational, analytical, and communication skills.
