Job Description

A skilled professional, the Product Owner helps ensure a delivery team can achieve its business goals through management of the team’s product backlog. The role, along with the delivery leads, shares accountability for product delivery. You will understand how to develop software products and how to give context to a delivery team. You will understand how to balance delivering the most valuable new features for our customers, generating and testing new ideas, ensuring the product is secure and code and product debt free while giving the team the space to self-improve.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide the delivery team with their PI & sprint goals and support organizing PI pre-/reviews and alignments to match commercial priorities and internal needs.
  • Understand the business and platform strategies, translating these to your team and illustrating their role in delivery.
  • Support cross-functional teams in discovering problems and solutions, including delivery leads, product managers, and other members.
  • Build strong relationships with other parts of the delivery community, such as design, engineering, data science, and operations.
  • Support day-to-day delivery, including handling escalations and reporting.
  • Ensure a well-groomed, prioritized, and understood backlog of work.
  • Work with delivery leads to generate estimates for initiatives.
  • Create space for engineering managers and scrum masters to generate and implement delivery improvements.
  • Demonstrate strong tactical thinking.
  • Collaborate with senior technology counterparts to select the best delivery strategies (e.g., buy vs build).
  • Participate in Agile ceremonies like daily standups, sprint planning, and retrospectives.
  • Coordinate, lead, or coach individual contributors as needed.

  • Ability to switch between tactical planning and day-to-day delivery, being the authority on your product.

  • Experience with Agile development methodologies, including Scrum and Kanban.
  • Strong technical knowledge of software development processes and methodologies.
