Job Description: As bp transitions to an integrated energy company, we must adapt to a changing world and maintain competitive performance. bp’s customers & products (C&P) business area is setting up a business and technology centre (BTC) in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. This will support the delivery of an enhanced customer experience and drive innovation by building global capabilities at scale, using technology, and developing deep expertise. The BTC will be a core and connected part of our business, bringing together colleagues who report into their respective part of C&P, working together with other functions across bp. This is an exciting time to join bp and the customers & products team.

The Procurement Manager (Industrial, Global Marine & Energy) is accountable for leading the IGME procurement team, overseeing all procurement strategies and activities. The role also oversees procurement data, knowledge management, and systems/process transformation activities in the region.

Key Responsibilities
  • Foster relationships with PU collaborators and measure the perception of procurement’s value through workshops, surveys, and mechanisms to develop improved segment strategies.
  • Provide timely supply market knowledge to regional partners, relaying current and future impactful events and their potential consequences.
  • Represent procurement at PU LBM meetings to understand and manage supply market shortages/lengthening and their effects on feedstock availability. Arrange for category teams to attend as required.
  • Establish effective procurement governance and clear decision-making processes.
  • Work with business partners to identify opportunities for cost savings and other benefits.
  • Develop an understanding of key commodity and currency markets and their impact on raw materials.
  • Lead the PU procurement team, setting vision and strategic direction, providing coaching, and enabling the team to meet performance targets.
  • Set goals and objectives for the IGME procurement team, define critical metrics, and manage team performance and development.
  • Participate as a key member of the country GSC leadership team and act as a partner concern point for PULT, resolving issues appropriately.
  • Oversee talent management, development, and career guidance for all direct reports within the procurement team.
Essential Education, Experience, and Job Requirements
  • University degree and relevant work experience in a technical and commercial discipline.
  • Experience in direct category management within global businesses, with advanced sourcing methodologies and tools.
  • Proven experience in developing and implementing global sourcing category strategies, managing supply bases, and delivering multi-year business value, preferably with familiarity in E-optimization, AT Kearney Chessboard, and working within a global procurement matrix organization.
