Job summary
An engineering firm in Penang is seeking a Cost Manager for M&E installation projects. The successful candidate will oversee budgeting and cost control, manage tendering processes, and collaborate with various teams. Ideally, applicants should possess a degree in Quantity Surveying or related fields and have substantial experience in managing project costs. Proficiency in relevant software and a solid understanding of local cost structures are essential for this long-term role.
Qualifications

Job Responsibilities:
- Responsible for cost budgeting, control, and analysis of M&E installation projects to ensure project cost targets are achieved;
- Apply in-depth knowledge of Malaysia's local M&E installation cost and pricing systems to prepare and review project budgets and final accounts;
- Lead or participate in project tendering and bidding processes, providing accurate cost data and strategic input to ensure competitive and compliant submissions;
- Coordinate with design, procurement, and construction teams to monitor cost changes and proactively manage financial risks;
- Build and maintain project cost databases, continuously improve cost control systems and procedures;
- Perform other related tasks as assigned by management.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or above in Quantity Surveying, M&E Engineering, Construction Management, or related fields;
- Minimum 5 years of experience in cost and budget management of large-scale M&E installation projects;
- Familiar with Malaysia’s local M&E cost structure, regulations, material pricing, and market practices;
- Proven experience in managing tendering processes and preparing bid budgets independently;
- Proficient in AutoCAD, Microsoft Office, and budgeting software such as CostX, Glodon, or equivalent;
- Strong sense of responsibility, with excellent communication and coordination skills;
- Must be able to work and reside in Penang, Malaysia on a long-term basis.
