Job summary

STMicroelectronics Malaysia is seeking a Process Engineer to own and improve Wafer Cleaning and Lamination processes, ensuring stable production, high yield, and compliance with quality and safety standards. You will develop and optimize process parameters, lead troubleshooting, and drive continuous improvement across cross-functional teams in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant engineering field.
• 2–5 years in semiconductor/manufacturing environments.
• Hands-on Wet Etch / Chemical Process experience preferred.
• Strong knowledge of wafer cleaning and chemical processes.
• Familiar with SPC, FMEA, DOE, 8D, 5 Whys, and Pareto analyses.
• Experience in process troubleshooting, yield improvement, and root cause analysis.
• Good understanding of process control and manufacturing quality systems.

Responsibilities

• Own Wafer Cleaning and Lamination processes for stable production.
• Develop, optimize, and maintain process parameters, recipes, and operating conditions.
• Lead troubleshooting and root cause analysis of defects, excursions, and yield issues.
• Drive continuous improvement to improve yield, productivity, and cost.
• Establish and maintain Process Control Plans, FMEAs, and process specifications.
• Analyze process and yield data to identify trends, risks, and improvements.
• Support NPI, process qualification, engineering runs, and process buy-off.
• collaborate with Equipment, Quality, Production, Planning, and MES/IT teams to resolve issues.
• Support DOE and process qualification activities.
• Ensure safety, environmental, quality, and manufacturing requirements for wet chemical processes.
• Provide training to production technicians and operators.

Summary

We are seeking a Process Engineer to own and improve Wafer Cleaning and Lamination processes to ensure stable production, high yield, process capability, and compliance with quality and safety requirements. The role involves process optimization, troubleshooting, qualification, and continuous improvement in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

YOUR ROLE

• Own and manage Wafer Cleaning and Lamination processes to ensure stable production, quality, yield, and process capability.
• Develop, optimize, and maintain process parameters, recipes, and operating conditions.
• Lead process troubleshooting and root cause analysis for process abnormalities, defects, excursions, and yield issues.
• Drive continuous improvement projects to improve process capability, yield, productivity, and cost.
• Establish and maintain Process Control Plans, FMEAs, work instructions, and process specifications.
• Analyze process and yield data to identify trends, risks, and improvement opportunities.
• Support new product introduction (NPI), process qualification, engineering runs, and process buy-off.
• Work closely with Equipment, Quality, Production, Planning, and MES/IT teams to resolve manufacturing issues.
• Support chemical/process change evaluations, DOE, process characterization, and qualification activities.
• Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, quality, and manufacturing requirements for wet chemical processes.
• Provide technical support and training to production technicians and operators.

Your Skills & Experiences

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Chemical Engineering, Materials Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Semiconductor Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Min 2-5 years of experience in semiconductor, electronics, PCB, panel-level packaging, wafer fabrication, or related manufacturing environments.
• Hands-on experience in Wet Etch / Chemical Process operations is highly preferred.
• Strong knowledge of wafer cleaning processes such as acid/alkaline etching, chemical concentration control, etch rate control, and chemical bath management.
• Familiar with structured problem-solving and quality tools such as SPC, FMEA, DOE, 8D, 5 Whys, Pareto analysis, and basic statistical methods.
• Experience in process troubleshooting, yield improvement, and root cause analysis.
• Good understanding of process control and manufacturing quality systems.
• Experience with automated process equipment is an advantage.
• Knowledge of semiconductor wafer/panel processing and packaging processes is an added advantage.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
• Able to work independently and collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
• Willing to support production issues and work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
