Job summary
A manufacturing company in Penang is seeking a qualified Manufacturing Engineer to optimize assembly processes for sheet metal products. Responsibilities
- Develop, document, and continuously optimize assembly processes for sheet metal products to ensure efficiency, standardization, and repeatability.
- Prepare and maintain work instructions, process flow charts, assembly drawings, and other technical documentation.
- Provide day-to-day technical support to the production line, resolving assembly-related issues in a timely manner.
- Participate in root cause analysis and corrective/preventive actions for quality issues (using 8D, Fishbone Diagram, etc.).
- Implement Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and 5S methodologies to drive improvements in productivity, quality, and cost.
- Conduct time studies, line balancing, and process layout optimization to improve manufacturing efficiency.
- Design and improve assembly jigs, fixtures, and tools to ensure safety, ergonomics, and efficiency.
- Coordinate with maintenance and engineering teams to manage equipment capability and reliability.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or above in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Automation, or a related field.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in sheet metal product assembly or manufacturing process engineering.
- Solid understanding of sheet metal structures, fabrication, and assembly processes.
- Proficient in CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, SolidWorks) and MS Office tools.
