Job summary

Airswift is seeking a Principal Riser Engineer in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, for a 1-year renewable contract. The role demands deep riser engineering expertise within offshore oil and gas, with emphasis on FEED, studies, and detailed design, plus cross‑discipline coordination across project delivery.

The successful candidate will verify design, support fabrication procurement, and ensure compliance with API, DNV, ISO, and ASME standards while delivering clear technical reporting and documentation.

Qualifications

• 8–15 years of oil and gas offshore experience.
• Experience in SURF and deepwater projects.
• Background in conceptual FEED, studies, and detailed design engineering on complex scopes.
• Experience supporting multidisciplinary engineering, fabrication procurement, and project teams.
• Experience reviewing vendor and subcontractor submissions for compliance with project specifications.

Responsibilities

• Perform riser engineering design and analysis for offshore projects.

This opportunity is suited to a technically strong engineering professional with deep expertise in riser engineering within offshore oil and gas projects.

The role focuses on FEED, studies, detailed design, riser analysis, design verification, and cross-discipline coordination, supporting complex engineering activities across project delivery.

This position offers broad technical exposure across design calculations, vendor review, fabrication support, and engineering compliance with recognised industry standards.

Required Education:

Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering

Required Experience:

• 8-15 years of experience in oil and gas, preferably in offshore facilities
• Prior experience in SURF and deepwater projects
• Background in conceptual FEED, studies, and detailed design engineering on complex engineering scopes
• Experience supporting multidisciplinary engineering, fabrication procurement, and project teams
• Experience reviewing vendor and subcontractor submissions for compliance with project specifications

Required Skills:

• Strong riser engineering knowledge including design processes, tools, and engineering methods
• Ability to perform riser analysis modelling such as fatigue analysis, strength analysis, installation analysis, and clashing analysis
• Ability to carry out design calculations including wall thickness, component design, and configuration design
• Strong working knowledge of design techniques and analysis methods
• Ability to prepare design basis documents, technical specifications, design reports, and engineering procedures
• Experience performing design verification through single-discipline and inter-discipline checks
• Ability to identify scope changes, raise technical queries, and support variation documentation
• Strong coordination skills across engineering disciplines, planning, fabrication procurement, and project management
• Ability to provide technical support for fabrication queries and defect or rectification requirements
• Advanced skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
• Strong communication skills for clear technical reporting and documentation of key engineering decisions
• Knowledge of API, DNV, ISO, ASME, and other standards applicable to riser engineering

Preferred Qualifications:

• Master's Degree in a relevant engineering discipline
• Registered Engineer in Training or membership of a professional engineering society
