Job summary

Kintec Global Recruitment seeks a technically credible, delivery-focused engineer to lead design and assurance of deepwater riser systems. You will own riser configuration, perform global analyses, and manage interfaces across concept to in-service stages.

The role requires extensive SURF experience, strong leadership, and the ability to communicate risk clearly with clients and vendors. Offshore stakeholders and multidisciplinary collaboration are essential.

Qualifications

• Directly relevant SURF and deepwater project experience.
• Degree in Mechanical, Offshore, Ocean, Civil, or related engineering discipline; PE/Chartered preferred.
• Typically 15+ years in riser or offshore pipeline engineering with deepwater exposure.
• Experience leading SCR or flexible riser design and analysis on major developments.
• Knowledge of DNV, API, and ISO codes and practices.

Responsibilities

• Lead concept selection, design, and verification of riser configurations.
• Define design bases, analysis methodologies, load cases, and acceptance criteria.
• Direct and review global static/dynamic riser analyses, fatigue, VIV, extreme response.
• Assure interfaces with floaters, pipelines, moorings, topsides, and subsea structures.

Job description

Lead the design and technical assurance of riser systems for deepwater SURF developments. Take ownership of riser configuration, global analysis, interfaces, and integrity across concept, FEED, detailed design, procurement, installation, and in-service phases.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead concept selection, design, and verification of steel catenary risers, flexible risers, and other deepwater riser configurations.
• Define design bases, analysis methodologies, load cases, acceptance criteria, specifications, and scopes of work.
• Direct and review global static and dynamic riser analyses, fatigue, interference, VIV, extreme response, accidental cases, and installation assessments.
• Assure interfaces with floaters, subsea pipelines, flowlines, umbilicals, moorings, topsides, flex joints, bend stiffeners, buoyancy modules, and subsea structures.
• Review specialist contractor and vendor deliverables, models, inputs, technical bids, qualifications, and deviations.
• Lead riser design reviews, technical risk assessments, independent checks, and resolution of complex engineering issues.
• Support fabrication, testing, transportation, installation, commissioning, and integrity-management planning.
• Provide technical leadership and mentoring, and represent the riser discipline in client and project meetings.

Experience and Qualifications

• Mandatory: directly relevant SURF and deepwater project experience.
• Degree in Mechanical, Offshore, Ocean, Civil, Structural, or a closely related engineering discipline; Chartered or Professional Engineer status is preferred.
• Typically 15 years or more of riser or closely related offshore pipeline engineering experience, with substantial deepwater SURF exposure.
• Proven leadership of SCR and/or flexible riser design and analysis on major offshore developments.
• Strong understanding of global riser behaviour, fatigue, VIV, interfaces, installation constraints, and integrity requirements.
• Detailed knowledge of relevant DNV, API, and ISO codes, standards, and recommended practices.
• Ability to technically assure complex analysis and clearly communicate engineering decisions and risk.

Software and Technical Tools

• Expert-level OrcaFlex capability is strongly preferred.
• Experience with Flexcom and associated fatigue, VIV, FEA, or post-processing tools is advantageous.
