Projects

• Working in a highly specialized Core Engineering squad of 4 that supports cross-functional teams to deliver scalable, secure, and reliable software.
• While not attached to a specific product or squad, you will tackle the most complex and challenging problems, moving from team to team.

Responsibilities

• Identify and prioritize problems with significant business impact.
• Design and develop high-quality, secure, and scalable software solutions using Java.
• Continuously improve software development processes and tools.
• Lead technical initiatives and mentor junior engineers.

Team & Culture

• As a Java subject matter expert, you will set engineering standards and ensure accountability (MAANG standards).
• Report to a highly technical Head of Engineering with experience in US Unicorn startups.
• Liaise with commercial directors, prioritize, and solve complex problems with minimal guidance.
• This role is well-paid with high expectations; it can be demanding and stressful at times (firefighting, etc.).

Must Have

• 5+ years of Java experience, with deep expertise in Java.
• Experience working with local Unicorns, US, EU scale-ups, or VC-backed startups (not MNCs or banks).

Nice to have

• Data skills: Python, Hadoop, Spark, or ML.
• Strong communication and influencing skills at the director level.

Levels

• Individual Contributor (IC) role suitable for someone pursuing a senior IC career path.
• Salary comparable to top 5% earners in Europe, with a lower cost of living in Malaysia.
• 6-15+ years of experience in senior, lead, or principal engineer roles.

Location

• Must reside in KL; office-based, 5 days a week.
• Open to relocating Malaysians from Singapore, HK, etc.
