We are hiring on behalf of our client for a dynamic and experienced Head of School (Principal) to lead an established international school in Kuala Lumpur. This role requires a visionary leader who will oversee academic operations, uphold educational excellence, and drive the strategic development of the school.

Key Responsibilities
1. Academic Leadership & Operations
  • Oversee all academic planning and implementation across Preschool and Primary levels.

  • Supervise and support academic coordinators, subject leads, and teaching staff in their daily responsibilities.

  • Conduct daily rounds to ensure high standards in teaching and learning.

  • Evaluate teacher performance through classroom observations and student feedback.

  • Plan and manage teaching resources and instructional materials.

  • Lead recruitment, onboarding, and training of academic staff in collaboration with HR.

  • Develop semester-based academic timetables and allocate teacher workloads.

  • Provide academic counseling to parents/guardians on student matters.

2. Examination & Curriculum Management
  • Chair the Internal Examination Board and supervise all internal exam processes.

  • Ensure confidentiality and accuracy in exam paper preparation, invigilation, and reporting.

  • Oversee student progress reports, academic performance tracking, and examination data.

3. Discipline & Student Welfare
  • Lead the school’s Discipline Board and address student behavioral issues.

  • Implement effective discipline strategies and foster a safe and respectful school environment.

  • Head the Prefectorial Board and maintain the Prefects’ handbook.

  • Counsel students and parents on behavioral concerns when necessary.

4. School Management & Compliance
  • Ensure academic documentation compliance (lesson plans, attendance, scheme of work).

  • Oversee the use and maintenance of the Education Management System (EMS) or other LMS platforms.

  • Work with internal and external auditors to uphold ISO and academic quality standards.

  • Support all audit processes and academic documentation updates.

5. Enrichment & Co-Curricular Programmes
  • Supervise sports, clubs, after-school programmes, and value-added activities (e.g., foreign language classes, CSR initiatives).

  • Liaise with external speakers and partners to enhance student development.

6. Library & Resource Oversight
  • Manage all library operations, book procurement, textbook inventory, and circulation systems.

  • Supervise the preparation and printing of exam papers and teaching materials.

7. Marketing & School Representation
  • Support school marketing initiatives through roadshows, fairs, and open days.

  • Provide academic consultation and product training to prospective parents and staff.

  • Assist in placement test design and execution.

8. School Events & Community Engagement
  • Plan and manage key school events such as Sports Day, Academic Awards, Carnival Day, and Report Card Days.

  • Coordinate student participation in academic competitions and tournaments.

Requirements
  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in Education or related field (Master’s preferred).

  • At least 5 years of experience in an international school, including leadership roles.

  • Candidates with Deputy Principal experience will also be considered.

  • Proven track record in academic planning, team management, and curriculum leadership.

  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.

  • Passionate about holistic education and student success.
