Job description

Position Overview

The application engineer is responsible for generating new packing method/footprint/carrier tape/box designs to meet development project functional requirement specifications (FRS) and ensure excellent manufacturing while addressing customers' physical issues in using our packages.

What you will do

  1. Develop new packing methods/footprints/carrier tape/box designs by identifying gaps between design requirements and supplier capabilities in a timely manner.
  2. Identify technical risks and provide mitigation proposals at the right time using proper design tools: Design FMEA, simulations.
  3. Drive for sound solutions.
  4. Own the packing method/footprint/carrier tape/box design process.
  5. Ensure the process is effectively implemented across the entire development life cycle.
  6. Maintain the footprint/carrier tape/box design rules that accurately reflect assembly and supplier capabilities.
  7. Address customers’ physical issues (e.g., T&R, SMT, solderability, packing, etc.) in using our packages.

What you will need

  1. Degree in engineering disciplines or materials science; a Master's degree or higher is preferred.
  2. Knowledge of IC/discrete package design.
  3. Experience with design tools such as simulation, Design FMEA, and CAD.
  4. Design experience of solder footprints is preferred.
  5. Creativity in developing new ideas and solutions.
  6. Strong customer focus, proactive, and able to work with minimal supervision.
  7. Experience in handling customer interactions is an advantage.
  8. Good interpersonal and presentation skills in cross-site and cross-functional teams.
  9. Good command of written and spoken English; Putonghua is an advantage.
  10. Willingness to travel occasionally.
