Job summary

Straits International School Penang is seeking a Preschool Teacher Assistant to support the lead teacher in creating a safe and stimulating learning environment for young children. You will assist with lesson plans, supervise activities, and promote social, emotional, and cognitive development to meet the preschool curriculum goals.

You will collaborate with staff to maintain wellbeing and safety, reinforce classroom rules, and help prepare materials for hands-on learning.

Qualifications

Patience and empathy to respond calmly to young children.
Strong communication with children and adults (teachers, parents).
Experience with young children in educational or care settings preferred.

Responsibilities

Assist the lead teacher in implementing daily lesson plans and activities aligned with the preschool curriculum.
Supervise children during classroom activities, meals, and outdoor play to ensure safety.
Assist with behavior management and guide children in developing social and emotional skills.
Prepare and organize learning materials, resources, and displays to support hands-on learning.
Maintain a clean, safe classroom environment and sanitize toys and surfaces.
Provide one-on-one or small group support to children needing extra help.
Observe and report developmental progress or concerns to the lead teacher.
Support routines and transitions, including arrivals, departures, meals, and rest time.
