Job Description

Hexwired has partnered with an exciting electronics manufacturer to add a Power Electronics Engineer to their R&D team in Basildon. They seek a candidate with solid experience in PSU design and exposure to analogue electronics. The company is well-established globally and is looking for a hands-on engineer, ideally open to moving into a senior or management role.

Responsibilities:
  1. Develop circuits and subsystems to meet specifications, ensuring reliable and cost-effective products.
  2. Resolve technical issues across development, production, and in-service phases.
  3. Verify designs through simulation, testing, and environmental assessments.
  4. Integrate regulatory, safety, and environmental standards into designs.
  5. Implement design changes post-launch due to improvements, obsolescence, or new regulations.
Skills and Experience:
  • Proficient in power electronics design.
  • Experience with switching PSU and PCB design.
  • Knowledge of MILSPEC digital and analog high-frequency circuits.
  • Expertise in transformers and high-frequency magnetic components.
  • High voltage experience (3-10kV, 500W-2kW).
  • Understanding of reliability design and MTBF in electronics.
  • Familiarity with encapsulation for harsh environments.
  • Skilled in failure mode analysis (e.g., DfMEA, FMECA).
  • Proficient in schematic capture, PCB layout, and design tools.
