Job description

Job purpose
A painting engineer's purpose is to ensure the quality, safety, and efficiency of painting processes. Their function involves optimizing paint application, selecting materials, and ensuring compliance with regulations and industry standards. They are responsible for ensuring paint application meets the required quality standards, including appearance, durability, and resistance to environmental factors. They strive to optimize the painting process to improve efficiency, reduce costs, and minimize waste. They provide technical expertise in paint selection, application methods, and equipment maintenance, ensuring all customer requirements and standards are met at all times.

Key responsibilities and accountabilities include:

  1. Managing productivity improvement activities on Operation Efficiency (OPE) / Overall Equipment Efficiency (OEE). Ensuring safety conformance and strict PPE implementation.
  2. Conducting, managing, and supervising all operational equipment/tooling, process measurement control, and improvement projects and activities.
  3. Identifying information and solving problems by categorizing, estimating, recognizing differences or similarities, and detecting changes in circumstances or events. Preparing 8D reports related to customer complaints.
  4. Preparing SPC, PFMEA, process parameters, and various engineering analyses. Making recommendations on production capacity, efficiency, capital, support supplies, and other support items based on various studies.
  5. Generating manufacturing documents such as WI, check sheets, procedures, POR, PQR, PCP, and conducting training to ensure conformity of all relevant personnel.
  6. Conducting operations research to analyze and design systems, including optimization, decision analysis, stochastic processes, and simulation for FA & MP products.
  7. Ensuring powder and liquid paint cosmetic requirements and achievements. Managing paint process control: spray gun system, pretreatment, paint booth, curing oven temperature profiling.
  8. Liaising with relevant departments, suppliers, and customers regarding quality, process, and special requirements related to the painting department.
  9. Setting powder and liquid paint parameters in FA (First Article) & MP (Mass Production), and controlling color using various meters/gauges. Continuously improving painting processes for capacity and capability expansion.
  10. Performing other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
