Job summary

Kardex in Malaysia is seeking a Platform Engineer / Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) based in Petaling Jaya near the Ara Damansara area. You will help ensure the reliability, performance, and operational excellence of Kardex One SaaS running on Microsoft Azure.

You will automate deployment workflows with Azure DevOps, establish observability with Grafana, and collaborate with Cloud Engineering and Product Development to deliver a scalable, 24/7 service with documented runbooks and strong customer

Qualifications

• Proven experience as SRE/DevOps/Cloud Engineer (4+ years) in scaling environments.
• Azure expertise (2+ years), Kubernetes, Docker, Terraform, Bicep and Azure DevOps.
• Ability to design and document deployment, change, incident, and problem management processes.
• Experience building observability solutions (Grafana, Prometheus, or similar).
• Familiarity with 24/7 operations and incident coordination with external providers.
• Hands-on automation and scripting (PowerShell, Bash, Python).
• Strong collaboration and communication across stakeholders.
• Fluent English and German communication skills.

We are seeking a motivated self-starter to join our team as a Platform Engineer / Site Reliability Engineer (SRE), based in Petaling Jaya, with our office located in the Ara Damansara area. PURPOSE OF THE ROLE

The Platform Engineer / Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) ensures the reliability, performance, and operational excellence of our Kardex One SaaS platform running in Microsoft Azure. This role focuses on building a highly automated and observable environment that enables seamless service delivery and high availability for our customers. The Platform Engineer / SRE acts as a key bridge between Cloud Engineering, internal and external support partners, and Product Development to ensure a stable and customer-centric operational foundation.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Define and automate deployment workflows (using Azure DevOps) including approval gates, environment promotion strategies, and rollback procedures.
• Establish observability and monitoring standards with Grafana and related tools, ensuring consistent metrics, alerting, and dashboards across environments.
• Develop and document operational playbooks and runbooks covering incident response, on-call duties, and escalation paths with internal teams and external service providers.
• Collaborate with Cloud Engineers to standardize infrastructure as code using Terraform and Bicep for consistent environment provisioning and configuration management.
• Design and implement operational processes for deployment, monitoring, incident management, and support in collaboration with Cloud Engineering and Development teams.
• Contribute to the design of global 24/7 support structures, including handover processes, ticket routing, and communication standards between internal and external teams.

REQUIREMENTS

• Proven experience as a Site Reliability Engineer, DevOps Engineer, or Cloud Engineer (4+ years), ideally in an early-stage or scaling environment.
• Strong expertise in Azure (2+ years), Kubernetes, Docker, Terraform, Bicep, and Azure DevOps.
• Demonstrated ability to design and document operational processes (deployment, change, incident, and problem management).
• Experience in building and integrating observability solutions (Grafana, Prometheus, or similar).
• Familiarity with 24/7 operations, incident coordination, and collaboration with external service providers.
• Hands-on skills in automation and scripting (PowerShell, Bash, Python).
• Excellent collaboration and communication skills across technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Strong communication and documentation skills in English and German

• Knowledge of compliance frameworks relevant to your industry (ISO 27001, SOC 2)
• Azure certifications (e.g., AZ-400 DevOps Engineer Expert, AZ-104)
