Job summary

Omya Group in Malaysia seeks a skilled Mechanical Technician to maintain and repair plant equipment. You will inspect, troubleshoot, and rebuild mechanical systems, read drawings, and coordinate with vendors and maintenance teams.

This permanent role requires reliability, safety compliance, and the ability to work various shifts. You will perform preventive maintenance, participate in safety programs, and document work using the maintenance software.

Qualifications

• High level of mechanical aptitude is required.
• Ability to read drawings to assemble/disassemble equipment.
• Experience with millwright, machinist tools and heavy equipment maintenance.
• Experience with pipe fitting and general maintenance tasks.
• Basic computer skills including Microsoft Office.

Responsibilities

• Inspect, troubleshoot, and repair plant mechanical equipment.
• Perform advanced rebuilds/retrofits and fabrication as needed.
• Coordinate maintenance schedules and report status to supervisor.
• Respond to emergencies during nights, weekends, and holidays.
• Act as mechanical vendor liaison and manage parts availability and labor bills.
• Maintain safety and quality procedures per company guidelines.
