Plant Manager, OTC Pharmaceutical Products - Malaysia

Location: Johor, Malaysia

Reporting to: GM Manufacturing

ABOUT THE BUSINESS

Our client is an established company that manufactures, markets, and distributes high-quality OTC pharmaceutical products. Its brand is a leader in many overseas markets and is renowned worldwide. Today, its products are sold in over 100 countries across 5 continents.

THE ROLE

Seeking an experienced leader to join the Malaysia plant to ramp up activities and oversee the transition to a new plant in 2026.

DIMENSION

Grow the production operation from its current headcount of 150 to 250 and beyond.

IMMEDIATE CHALLENGE
  • Transition the production to the new plant by 2026, overseeing staff, production, and equipment relocation.
  • Ensure uninterrupted production during the transition, meeting schedules smoothly.
  • Develop a vision for the expanded new plant to facilitate hiring and manufacturing capacity increase in the long term.
REQUIREMENTS
  • At least 15 years of experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Well-versed in GMP requirements and familiar with audits.
  • Experience in leading cross-functional teams and managing large headcounts.
  • Experience in new plant commissioning and setup.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Maintain GMP standards and liaise with DCA on regulatory matters.
  • Plan production schedules and organize workforce to meet market demand.
  • Manage production schedules for optimal use of manpower and equipment.
  • Monitor and control inventory levels.
  • Ensure timely production and shipment of goods.
  • Audit manufacturers/contract manufacturers as required.
  • Assist in supplier audits to meet GMP standards.
  • Maintain factory premises and machinery properly.
  • Assess machinery needs and raise Capex requests when necessary.
  • Coordinate with customs on Duty Drawback and CJ exemption (sales tax).
  • Handle documentation with banks and government offices as needed.
  • Estimate costs for new products, including materials and labor.
  • Monitor annual expenses to operate within budget.
  • Source and negotiate with suppliers for better terms.
  • Procure packaging materials that meet specifications at the best price.
  • Initiate product recalls when necessary.
EDUCATION

Degree in Engineering, Pharmacy, Science, or related fields.
