Job summary

SBM Offshore is seeking an Engineer Designer to contribute to reliable, cost-effective and safe engineering solutions in support of our operations.

You will select methods, perform design work, and ensure design intent is clear and compliant with international codes and company standards, collaborating with engineers and lead designers to resolve design conflicts.

Qualifications

• 0 to 5 years of experience in any industry.
• Associate's or bachelor's degree in Engineering, Design, or related field.
• Experience with engineering design and calculation tools is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Select methods and procedures, perform the work, and execute the design per specifications, in accordance with codes and standards.
• Use technical knowledge and software tools to depict clear, interpretable designs.
• Collaborate with Engineers, Designers and Lead Designer to ensure design intent and resolve conflicts.
• Plan and complete activities and deliverables within the project schedule and ensure interfaces are correct.
• Escalate unresolved issues to the Lead Designer/Engineer to minimize delays.

The Designer's purpose is to contribute to design reliable, cost-effective, and safe engineering solutions that support the organization's operational and strategic objectives.

Responsibilities

• You are responsible for the selection of methods and procedures, performance of the work, and execution of the design within the scope of the specifications, in compliance with international codes, company and industry standards and regulations.
• You utilize technical knowledge and software tools to depict the design that can be easily and correctly interpreted by others.
• You collaborate with Engineers, other Designers and Lead Designer to share information, ensure design intent is understood, and resolve design conflicts.
• You are responsible for planning and completing activities and deliverables within agreed time frame, as well as for ensuring system interfaces.
• You escape unresolved issues to the Lead Designer/Engineer to minimize delays in deliverables, understanding how assigned tasks fit within the project schedule and affect other stakeholders in meeting deadlines.
• You ensure applicable lessons learnt are used, understanding the change impact within and across project system boundaries.
• You collaborate with Package Engineers to ensure timely review of vendor documents and that comments are made with the required quality level.

Education

• Associate's or bachelor's degree in Engineering, Design, or related field
