Summary

The Engineering Manager will lead the design, development, and manufacturing support of PCBA (Printed Circuit Board Assembly) and high-level electromechanical assemblies for industrial applications (e.g., automation, robotics, power systems, IoT). This role requires expertise in DFx (Design for Manufacturing/Lean/Cost), collaboration with international OEMs, and ensuring seamless transition from prototyping to mass production in a contract manufacturing environment.

Detailed Description
  • Oversee PCBA and high-level assembly (HLA) design, process development, and manufacturing support for industrial products.
  • Drive DFM/DFT/DFA improvements to optimize yield, cost, and reliability.
  • Lead root-cause analysis for PCBA/HLA failures (e.g., solder defects, component issues, thermal management).

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Act as the primary technical liaison for international OEMs, ensuring clear communication of requirements and specifications.
  • Work with supply chain to qualify components and resolve obsolescence issues.
  • Partner with production teams to troubleshoot assembly line issues (e.g., SMT, through-hole, box-build).

Process & Quality Optimization

  • Develop and enforce process controls for PCBA/HLA (IPC standards, solder profiles, testing protocols).
  • Implement lean manufacturing principles to reduce waste and improve efficiency.
  • Ensure compliance with industrial-grade reliability standards (e.g., shock/vibration, thermal cycling).

Team & Project Management

  • Mentor a team of PCB, test, and manufacturing engineers.
  • Manage engineering timelines for NPI (New Product Introduction) and production ramp-up.
  • Review and approve BOMs, schematics, and assembly drawings.

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s/Master’s in Electrical/Electronics/Mechanical Engineering or related field.
  • 10+ years in EMS/contract manufacturing, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
  • Proven track record in industrial-grade PCBA/HLA (e.g., control systems, ruggedized devices).

Technical Skills

  • Expertise in PCB fabrication, SMT processes, and box-build assembly.
  • Deep knowledge of IPC-A-610, IPC-7351, J-STD-001 standards.
  • Proficiency in CAD tools (e.g., Altium, Cadence) and PLM/ERP systems.
  • Familiarity with automated test equipment (ATE) and functional testing.

Soft Skills

  • Fluent English (written/spoken) for OEM/client interactions.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to manage multicultural teams and stakeholders.

Preferred Extras
