Job description

The Payroll Specialist ensures the accurate and timely processing of employee payroll, maintains payroll records, and provides support for all payroll-related inquiries. This role requires a detail-oriented individual with strong analytical skills and knowledge of payroll laws and regulations.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Payroll Processing: Accurately process bi-weekly, semi-monthly, or monthly payrolls for all employees.
  2. Record Maintenance: Maintain and update payroll records, including new hires, terminations, and changes in pay rates.
  3. Compliance: Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll laws and regulations.
  4. Deductions: Manage payroll deductions, including taxes, benefits, and garnishments.
  5. Reporting: Prepare and distribute payroll reports, including summaries of earnings, deductions, and leave balances.
  6. Auditing: Conduct regular audits of payroll procedures to ensure accuracy and compliance.
  7. Issue Resolution: Investigate and resolve payroll discrepancies and employee payroll issues.
  8. System Updates: Update and maintain payroll systems and software.
  9. Support: Provide support to the HR department and assist with special projects as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS

  1. Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.
  2. Minimum of 2-3 years of payroll processing experience.
  3. Strong understanding of payroll laws and regulations.
  4. Proficiency in payroll software (e.g., ADP, Paychex) and Microsoft Office Suite.
  5. Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
  6. Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  7. Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
  8. Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
