Why does this job exist and why is it critical?
This role supports the payroll team by performing data entry and administrative tasks. The primary goal is to ensure all employee payroll data is accurately captured and processed in a timely manner, contributing to a smooth and efficient payroll cycle for the entire organisation.
Job Description
- Process overtime and variable allowances for all employees, ensuring accuracy of hours and pay before the main payroll run.
- Prepare and process monthly payroll by ensuring integration of new hire information, terminations, and pay adjustments into the system.
- Handle the administration of employee benefits deductions, such as provident fund and social security, ensuring correct information and amounts are accurate,
- Respond to basic payroll-related queries from employees regarding their pay slips, deductions, and other compensation matters in a timely manner.
- Handle post-payroll activities, including the preparation and submission of general ledger (GL) data and accrual reports for the Finance department.
- Maintain accurate and organised payroll records and documentation, assisting with filing and archiving as required for audit and compliance purposes.
- Support the implementation and maintenance of automated payroll processes, assists in testing and troubleshooting workflows, and ensures accurate data entry and compliance with payroll regulations.
- Collaborate with the People Services team to ensure seamless onboarding of new employees into the payroll system.
- Participate in payroll projects and initiatives aimed at improving efficiency and accuracy, embracing a mindset of continuous improvement to support team goals.
Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
- 3 years of experience in Payroll, or a similar role.
- Proven ability to manage the full payroll lifecycle, from onboarding to offboarding.
- Proficiency in HRIS systems and digital tools for workforce and benefits administration.
- Analytical, problem-solving capabilities and resourceful.
- High level of integrity and discretion in handling confidential and sensitive information.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with a growth and customer-focused mindset.
