What’s The Role

This role as a PAR Analyst is for individuals with a strong accounting and business planning background, known for enthusiasm and the ability to work effectively across interfaces and bring people together to drive a common agenda for SMEP Upstream Planning and Appraisal activities. It provides an excellent platform for those seeking to pursue a career in Upstream, offering opportunities across multiple disciplines to manage the risks of SMEP Business.

Shell Malaysia Exploration and Production (SMEP) has a large portfolio with a highly complex Production Sharing Contract (PSC) environment and cost allocation rules involving 20+ active PSCs through 7 legal entities, with 10+ JV partners and a National Oil Company (PETRONAS).

What You’ll Be Doing

Reporting directly to the PAR Lead, working with Senior PAR analysts, Asset Financial Planners, Finance Advisors, Asset Finance, and other stakeholders in SMEP to deliver finance activities accurately. This role is crucial in contributing to the preparation and submission of planning, budgeting, latest estimates, appraisal, and performance overviews, including the Latest Estimates (LE), Operating Plan (OP), and coordination of the Monthly Appraisal (MA) process. The role requires the ability to work effectively across organizational boundaries and support Global PAR initiatives, translating complex issues into clear actions and operating strategically or at detailed levels as needed.

What You Bring

  • Preferably a graduate in finance or related discipline with a professional qualification (MIA/ACCA/CIMA/ACA or equivalent) and 3-4 years of post-qualification experience, including at least 1 year in Business Performance Management & Business Partnering.
  • Experience with continuous improvement, automation, and data management skills are advantageous.
  • A proactive mindset to drive global standards in a customer-centric manner.
  • Strong interpersonal, leadership, analytical, and numerical skills.
  • Ability to work across organizational boundaries with diverse colleagues and stakeholders at multiple levels.

Additional Information

  • Experience with ERP systems and digital tools like Power Query, Power Apps, Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and chart analysis.
  • Effective communication skills, capable of challenging senior management constructively.
  • Proactive approach to resolving complex accounting and reporting issues in a dynamic environment.
  • Proven team player with a track record of performance under tight deadlines.
