Overview
Manage the packing plant team to ensure smooth operations in packing and dispatching clinker and cement products (bag and bulk) according to customer and market requirements. Oversee packing line performance to ensure accuracy in weight, sealing, labeling, and palletizing of cement products in line with SIRIM, ISO, and internal quality standards.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with the Procurement Department to ensure timely supply of raw and packing materials in line with production demand, storage capacity and cost optimization.
- Lead initiatives to improve packing plant process control, cycle time, productivity, and dispatch planning, including OpEx and continuous improvement projects.
- Develop and implement training programs for operators and packers to handle cement packing equipment, troubleshoot operational issues, and reduce downtime caused by human error.
- Prepare industrial plans, budgets, and estimates for packing and dispatch operations in line with production forecasts, sales commitments, and management guidelines.
- Manage fixed and variable costs, analyze expenditures related to cement packing and logistics, and implement cost optimization measures.
- Ensure strict compliance with safety, health, and environmental procedures, including dust control, housekeeping, emergency shutdown protocols, and safe truck loading practices.
- Monitor and report packing plant KPIs (e.g., output per hour, downtime, bag breakage, dispatch accuracy), highlighting gaps and implementing corrective actions.
- Coordinate with Sales, Logistics, and Customer Service teams to align dispatch schedules with customer delivery requirements and export shipment timelines.
- Support sustainability efforts by minimizing cement spillage, optimizing energy usage in the packing plant, and ensuring environmentally responsible practices.
- Undertake any other tasks or responsibilities assigned by management as required.
Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree/Diploma in Engineering, Supply Chain, Logistics, or related field.
- At least 5–7 years of experience in plant operations, packing & dispatch, or logistics management (experience in the cement or manufacturing industry is an advantage).
- Strong leadership skills with proven ability to manage and develop a team.
- Good knowledge of process control practices, cost management, and OpEx/continuous improvement initiatives.
- Familiar with procurement coordination, stock optimization, and production planning.
- Sound understanding of safety & health regulations and environmental practices in industrial operations.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Willing to take on additional responsibilities as assigned by management.
