Qualifications

Responsibilities

1. Collaborates with staff from manufacturing, Quality, Design, and shipping departments to optimize package design.
2. Oversees the design of the finished product packaging & crating. Maintains knowledge base of customer specific crating or marking requirements.
3. Oversees the design of raw material to meet the technical requirements: Cleanroom compatibility etc.
4. Tests packaging systems and components for new and existing products.
5. Uses 3D modeling software to extract key design and weight requirements for packaging design.
6. Researches and introduces prototype packaging suitable for Semiconductor capital equipment and respective components/ assemblies.
7. Drafts specifications for new packing materials that will adequately protect finished products.
8. Technical Interface with packaging suppliers (USA and Asia) who provide packaging material to Veeco and its suppliers.
9. Working alongside new product development teams to identify specialty packaging needs.
10. Maintains, updates and releases Clean room packaging and Crating specifications.
11. Point of contact for Veeco suppliers who have Veeco required packaging or require packaging designs be approved.

Knowledge, Skills And Abilities

1. Extensive knowledge of packaging material and design as it applies to Cleanroom/ semiconductor equipment.
2. Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
3. Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
4. Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
5. Proficient with Solidworks computer-assisted design (CAD) software.

Qualifications

1. Bachelors degree in Materials Engineering or related field required.
2. Five years of experience in package design preferred.

Physical Requirements

1. Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
2. Must be able to lift 15 pounds at times.
