The Operator role is responsible for carrying out the required standard activities of their assigned tasks, in full compliance with the Work Instruction and/or Standard Operating Procedure, and without compromising their own safety or that of colleagues.

Where required to achieve certified status, the team member will be trained to undertake their tasks safely and to a high-quality level through a rigorous Job Instruction process and is expected to attain the relevant certification, as measured by the competence matrix and specified in the site's BMS/QMS.

The team member will be fully supported by their Team Leader (TL), who will enable their training, coaching, and respond promptly if they identify any off-standard or quality issues.

They are expected to actively identify safety concerns (hazard identification), immediately report problems to their TL (Pull the Andon), and raise improvement ideas (Kaizen).

They will be part of a team that works collectively to create a Great Place To Work through a culture of continuous improvement, safety, and open dialogue.

Job Responsibilities
  • Contribute to creating a Great Place to Work by role-modeling safety-first, a Kaizen mindset, and supporting colleagues.
  • Hold themselves and fellow team members accountable to embody the GKNA culture principles.
  • Perform all tasks in compliance with standard work and training, and immediately report any safety, quality, or other issues to their TL.
  • Exemplify a safety-first mindset and adhere to all GKN Aerospace health, safety, and environmental policies and standards.
  • Understand their team's KPIs related to People, Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cash, and Cost, and their contribution to these metrics.
  • Become certified at the Lean Foundation level and implement at least one Kaizen per month.
  • Support the team and TL in problem-solving by contributing ideas based on their own experience.
  • Actively participate as a member of the team to promote engagement.
