We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Operations Manager to oversee our rubber wood operations. The successful candidate should possess extensive knowledge of planting, harvesting, saw milling, kiln drying, and FSC CoC standards. A strong understanding of yield calculations, from trees per acre to outputs (logs and sawn timber in Mt), is essential.
Key Responsibilities:
- Coordinate the buying and selling of rubberwood logs, including all related commercial processes.
- Oversee felling operations on-site, working closely with plantations and contractors across Peninsular Malaysia.
- Liaise with customers (timber manufacturers) and coordinate with procurement, sales, and management teams to align supply and operational goals.
- Ensure compliance with FSC Chain of Custody (CoC) standards and other environmental regulations.
- Develop and implement operational strategies to optimize yield, productivity, and sustainability.
- Calculate and analyse yield data, including trees per acre, logs per metric ton, and sawn timber output.
- Lead and train operational teams to meet quality and safety standards.
- Monitor operational costs and implement cost-saving measures without compromising timber quality.
- Maintain good communication with contractors, sawmills, plantations, and customers.
- Travel extensively across Peninsular Malaysia to monitor and support operations. Be present on-site to oversee operations and ensure smooth processes.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience in the rubber wood timber industry, including planting, harvesting, saw milling, and kiln drying.
- Strong understanding of yield calculations and forestry metrics.
- Knowledge of FSC standards and certification processes is an added advantage.
- Degree in Forestry is preferred but not mandatory; relevant experience is essential.
- Excellent leadership, organizational, and analytical skills.
- Ability to interpret operational data and implement improvements.
- Good understanding of environmental and safety regulations.
- Physically fit, mobile, adaptable to frequent fieldwork and able to handle on-site challenges.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills for dealing with contractors, sawmills/customers.
- Good written and verbal communication skills in Bahasa Malaysia and English.
Salary will be based on experience and qualifications. Travel and fieldwork allowances provided. Accommodation will be provided during site assignments. Opportunities for training and career development in the timber trade sector.
