Job summary

Sunway Medical Centre in Malaysia is seeking an Operating Theatre Technician to support perioperative care. You will prepare operating rooms, assist the surgical team, and manage equipment and patient transfer with attention to safety and accuracy.

The role requires an SPM Certificate or OT technician training, with 1 year of relevant post-training experience in a tertiary care setting. Strong communication skills and reliability are essential.

Qualifications

• SPM Certificate or equivalent required.
• Operating Theatre Technician Course/Diploma advantageous.
• Minimum 1 year of relevant post-training experience in an acute tertiary care facility.
• Good listening skills with effective verbal and written communication.

Responsibilities

• Prepare operating rooms before surgeries with all equipment and supplies available and functioning.
• Assist surgical team in donning sterile attire and maintaining sterile fields.
• Set up and operate anesthesia machines, lights, suction devices, and monitors.
• Anticipate needs of the surgical team with appropriate instrumentation and supplies.
• Handle and care for medical device transportation with proper cleaning and storage.
• Ensure patient safety and assist with patient positioning as directed.
• Maintain accurate records of procedures, equipment used, and patient data.
• Assist with patient transfer to and from the operating room, ensuring comfort.
• Possess basic knowledge of various medical devices and anesthesia equipment used in OT.
• Maintain good health and consistent attendance; able to learn new equipment.

Job Discriptions :

• Prepare operating rooms before surgeries by ensuring that all necessary equipment, instruments, and supplies are available and in working order.
• Assist surgical team members in donning sterile attire and maintaining sterile fields throughout procedures.
• Set up and operate surgical equipment such as anesthesia machines, lights, suction devices, and monitors.
• Anticipate the needs of the surgical team, by provision of appropriate surgical instrumentation and equipment, surgical supplies, medical devices, positioning aids and assistance.
• Handle and care for medical device transportation, ensuring proper cleaning and storage procedures are followed.
• Ensure patient safety and assist with patient positioning as directed by the surgical team.
• Maintain accurate records of surgical procedures, including equipment used, supplies consumed, and patient data.
• Assist with patient transfer to and from the operating room, ensuring patient safety and comfort.
• Has basic knowledge in the care of various medical devices, anesthesia equipment and supplies used in the Operating Theatre.
• Ability to maintain good health and consistent attendance.
• Ability to learn new equipment and medical device in assisting the surgical procedures.
