Job description

Mission

Operate and take care of the Crawler Crane onboard offshore construction vessels.

Tasks
  1. Operate the crawler crane on deck within the designed load capacity, following derating tables based on weather and sea conditions.
  2. Perform basket transfers when permitted and safe.
  3. Hold the Offshore Crane Operator certification (level 2 for unsupervised inboard lifts; level 3 for offshore lifts), except for junior operators in training who must obtain certification before performing unsupervised lifts.
  4. Be aware of surroundings to avoid clashes with other vessel equipment.
  5. Know the crane's reach and capacity limits.
  6. Coordinate with other cranes on vessels with multiple cranes to prevent interference during operations.
  7. Collaborate with supervisors to define lifting procedures.
  8. Report any crane malfunctions to your supervisor.
  9. Follow all safety procedures for crane lifts.
  10. Conduct daily inspections of the crane.
  11. Perform routine maintenance on the crane and operator's cabin.
  12. Maintain high housekeeping standards in the operator's cabin.
  13. Coordinate with the 2nd Engineer, Crane Engineer, Chief Electrician, or Vessel Equipment Engineer for maintenance and repairs.
  14. Inspect the crane weekly, following manufacturer recommendations.
  15. Record all lifts above 50 tons in the crane logbook.
  16. Cease lifting activities if safety or technical issues arise that could cause damage or injury.
  17. Report to the 1st Assistant and take instructions from the Deck Foreman or 2nd Assistant during lifts.
