Job description

Officer (Compliance, Intervention and Compensation Fund)

Critically analyze cases based on available information, determine the applicable sections of the Legal Profession Act 1976, and devise intervention strategies on a case-by-case basis.

Conduct thorough research and articulate findings to craft memorandums, opinions, letters, and notices in clear and precise terms.

Prepare reports, letters, and opinions.

Supervise, manage, and monitor supporting staff.

Attend to inquiries regarding disciplinary processes and complaints.

Draft various materials and attend to correspondence.

Review cause papers for cases of appeal and reinstatement.

Stay informed of changes in the law.

Conduct disciplinary hearings before the Disciplinary Committee of the Advocates and Solicitors Disciplinary Board.

Maintain database and update records on various complaints processes.

Liaise with external solicitors and third parties.

Perform general clerical duties, including photocopying, faxing, mailing, and filing.

Handle all other matters as directed by management.

Requirements:
  • Possess an LLB (Hons) degree.
  • Candidates who are advocates and solicitors of the High Court of Malaya will have an added advantage.
  • Candidates currently pursuing the Certificate in Legal Practice (CLP) are encouraged to apply.
  • Experience in preparing briefs for court matters.
  • Proficient in legal research, analysis, and writing.
  • Able to prioritize and schedule work based on urgency and importance.
  • Willing to attend to intervention cases onsite in Klang Valley and outstation.
  • Well-organized, capable of multitasking, managing time efficiently, and producing detailed and accurate work under tight deadlines.
  • Ability to exercise independent judgment and initiative.
  • Proactive in risk management following best practices.
  • Self-motivated, dedicated, and able to work independently in a challenging environment with minimal supervision, yet a team player.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficient in both written and spoken English and Bahasa Malaysia. Knowledge of Mandarin or other Chinese dialects and Tamil is an advantage.
  • High computer literacy, including proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Able to travel outstation as required.
