ADVANCED ENERGY INDUSTRIES (MALAYSIA) SDN. BHD. seeks an NPI Engineering Manager to lead the Engineering Services team supporting Drafting, PPS, and NPI programs from concept to production release.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 5–8 years of experience in NPI, Manufacturing Engineering, Product Engineering, Program Management, or related fields.
  • Minimum 3 years of leadership or people management experience.
  • Familiarity with Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) systems and ERP systems (SAP preferred).
  • SolidWorks, Adobe Illustrator, and Altium Designer for engineering documentation/drafting support.
  • Experience with Operation Method Sheet (OMS) creation, maintenance, and release processes.
  • Experience in high‑mix, low‑volume manufacturing environments and global teams.

Job description

The NPI Manager (Engineering Services) is responsible for leading and managing the Engineering Services organization that supports New Product Introduction (NPI) activities within Advanced Energy's Plasma Power business. This role oversees the Drafting and Pre-Production Services (PPS) teams, ensuring the timely delivery of engineering documentation, product structures, manufacturing readiness activities, and product data management required to support successful product development, product transfers, and production ramp-ups.

The incumbent works closely with cross-functional teams, including Engineering, Program Management, Supply Chain, Quality, Manufacturing, and Global Design Centers, to ensure new products are effectively released, accurately documented, and seamlessly transitioned into manufacturing while meeting company quality, regulatory, and compliance requirements.

In addition, the role drives process standardization, operational excellence, and continuous improvement initiatives to enhance engineering support capabilities, accelerate product introduction timelines, and ensure manufacturing readiness for new and sustaining products.

RESPONSIBILITIES :

Lead, mentor, and develop a team of engineering professionals supporting Drafting and Pre-Production Services activities.

Establish team objectives, performance metrics, and development plans aligned with organizational goals.

Manage resource planning, workload prioritization, and capacity requirements to support multiple NPI programs.

Foster a culture of collaboration, accountability, innovation, and continuous improvement.

2. New Product Introduction (NPI)

Lead Engineering Services support for NPI programs from concept through production release.

Collaborate with global design centers and cross-functional teams to ensure successful product transfer into manufacturing.

Identify project risks and implement mitigation plans to avoid schedule, quality, or cost impacts.

Oversee PPS activities related to new PCBAs, Specification Control Drawing (SCD), BOM, SMT assembly process and manufacturing documentation.

Lead PPS package creation and release activities before RFQ and supplier engagement.

Drive PPS process improvements, standardization, and automation initiatives.

4. Drafting

Lead the Drafting team responsible for Operation Method Sheet (OMS), drawing, and 3D CAD data management.

Ensure OMS and engineering drawings meet company, industry, and customer standards.

Review drafting practices, templates, and standards for consistency across product lines.

Establish controls for OMS revision, drawing revision, documentation release, and configuration management.

Drive continuous improvement initiatives to improve drafting process, efficiency, quality, and cycle time.

Serve as functional owner and subject matter expert for Engineering Change Order (ECO) processes.

Coordinate cross-functional stakeholders to resolve ECO-related issues.

Support configuration management and product traceability requirements.

6. Process Improvement & Digital Transformation

Identify opportunities to streamline NPI, Drafting, and PPS workflows.

Support automation and digitalization projects involving PLM, ERP, CAD, and document control systems.

Implement best practices and standardized work processes across the Engineering Services organization.

7. Quality & Compliance

Ensure compliance with company quality management systems and procedures.

Maintain confidentiality of all information related to the production processes and components, business and other technology including materials.

Adhere to organizational requirements on quality management, health and safety, code of conduct, legal stipulations, environmental, 5S policies and general duty of care.

WORK ENVIRONMENT :

Works in a standard office environment and uses general office equipment.

Works under minimal supervision for a supervisor that may be in a different geographical location.

Fast-paced, dynamic manufacturing environment supporting new product introduction (NPI), product transfer, and sustaining engineering activities.

May require international travel (<10%).

QUALIFICATIONS :

Strong leadership and people management capabilities.

Excellent project management and prioritization skills.

Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.

Experience leading cross-functional teams in a matrix organization.

Strong understanding of engineering documentation and configuration management

Experience establishing and managing departmental KPIs and performance metrics.

Demonstrated ability to develop individuals and teams.

Ability to communicate effectively with executive management and customers.

Self-motivated, proactive, exhibits an enthusiastic, confident and positive attitude.

EXPERIENCE :

Minimum 5 to 8 years of experience in NPI, Manufacturing Engineering, Product Engineering, Program Management, or related fields

Minimum 3 years of leadership or people management experience.

Familiarity with Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) systems, ERP systems (SAP preferred), and configuration management processes.

Working knowledge of SolidWorks, Adobe Illustrator, and Altium Designer for engineering documentation, drafting, and product development support.

Experience with Operation Method Sheet (OMS) creation, maintenance, and release processes to support manufacturing operations and new product introductions.

Experience in PCBA, electronics, semiconductor, industrial equipment, or high-technology manufacturing industries.

Experience with PCB/PCBA design documentation, drawing release processes, and manufacturing documentation management.

Experience in high-mix, low-volume manufacturing environments.

Exposure to global or multinational organizations supporting geographically dispersed teams and stakeholders.

EDUCATION :

Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial or closely related field or relevant education.
