Detailed Description
Performs tasks such as, but not limited to, the following:
- Plans for and procures materials necessary to meet manufacturing build requirements for one or several product lines with US supplier.
- Reviews forecasted requirements and purchases materials in accordance with that forecast.
- Ensures materials are available to meet manufacturing build requirements, matching material requirements and inventory turnover to avoid excess inventory.
- Qualifies new suppliers through surveys and site visits.
- Helps establish new supplier accounts (IDM) with the finance department.
- Works with internal customers to address, return, and receive credit for defective materials.
- Works with A/P to investigate and resolve issues with the payment of supplier invoices.
- Plans and schedules timely material requirements based on customer forecasts, reviewing manufacturing production goals.
- Analyzes inputs such as capacity, cycle times, urgency, and material availability to determine schedules, and adjusts orders based on production plans.
Additional Responsibilities
- Ensures the quality and integrity of information used for the materials requirements plan.
- Revises plans based on actuals versus forecasts.
- Performs PO cleanup and confirmations for US suppliers.
- Resolves critical shortages of US suppliers.
- Contacts suppliers directly as needed.
- Participates in weekly clear to build reviews with the day shift prime.
- Addresses Bill of Material issues with the EC team for corrections.
- Collaborates with site and global logistics to reduce freight costs.
- Provides feedback on engineering change orders for revisions.
- Handles Cash in Advance payment requests.
- Resolves receiving and invoice referrals timely.
- Updates CFT on market conditions affecting material supply.
- Participates in customer audits, projects, and purchasing issues as needed.
- Coordinates with day shift prime on US supplier status and schedules.
- Works with MP and PM on task assignments.
Knowledge, Skills, and Competencies
- Candidate must possess at least a Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Business Studies, Management, Economics, Commerce, or related fields.
- Minimum 5-10 years' experience in a related department.
- Ability to work night shifts (2300-0830).
- Knowledge of manufacturing environment, materials, and engineering change processes preferred.
- Basic understanding of production planning, scheduling, MRP, and manufacturing control systems.
- Knowledge of procurement, inventory, and supplier management.
- Proficiency in computer applications like Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and ERP/MRP systems, especially SAP, is an advantage.
- Strong planning, multitasking, attention to detail, and communication skills.
