Job summary

Astreya is seeking a Network Operations Engineer II to manage and troubleshoot Network Production environments. The role requires independent work with precision and attention to detail, participating in production network strategies and peering initiatives.

You will handle day-to-day vendor server issues, collaborate with ISPs and partners, and troubleshoot optical and IP network components. Weekend rotations may be required to support global operations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or Diploma required with 2+ years’ related experience or training.
• Experience with peering and content delivery networks is preferred.
• Strong understanding of IPv4/IPv6, BGP, OSPF, MPLS.
• Experience with fiber-optic technology and optical transport will be advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Participate in production network and internet peering strategies.
• Handle day-to-day activities on vendor servers and diverse software/hardware issues.
• Support network and traffic peering for incidents with ISPs/partners.
• Troubleshoot optical (DWDM, CWDM) and IP network components.
• Coordinate with TAC vendors to resolve hardware issues and fix network problems.
• Contribute to 24/7 support with global teams; some weekend work may be required.

Job description

The Network Operations Engineer II is a network support engineer for managing and troubleshooting Network Production environments. This position requires the ability to work independently with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.

Your Roles and Responsibilities:

• Participate in production network and internet peering strategies
• Experience with networking technologies relative to content delivery network, monitoring capacity and peering traffic.
• Day-to-day activities involve working on multiple vendor servers and various software and hardware issues
• Handle traffic and any other queries raised by ISP/partners
• Support team in handling network and traffic peering for any incidents such as input errors, CRC, Capacity, Routing, Protocol, etc.
• Knowledgable in troubleshooting of optical (DWDM, CWDM) and IP network components.
• Working with multiple TAC vendors to fix the hardware issues
• Work with ISP/vendors on fixing any issues related to network
• Participate in 24/7 support with other teams across the globe. Some weekend work may be required.

Required Qualifications/Skills:

• Bachelor’s degree or Diploma and 2+ years’ related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
• Builds productive internal and external working relationships
• Exercises judgment within defined procedures and practices to determine appropriate action
• Understanding of network and traffic peering
• Understanding of fiber-optic technology including cable types, connector types, optic types, patch panels, and optical transport technologies will be advantages.
• Understanding of preparing root cause analysis for any network and server outages.
• Strong communication skills, including the ability to work with service providers, colocation facilities, and ISPs around the world
• Good understanding of:
• IP networking concepts (IPv4/IPv6, BGP, OSPF, MPLS)
• Optical technologies (e.g., DWDM, CWDM, fiber types, optical modules)
• Knowledgeable on Layer 1 troubleshooting.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience working in a multi-vendor network environment.
• Experience on Optical Devices Cienna/Infinera/Huawei preferred.
• Network certifications. CCNP/JNCIP/Ciena preferred
