An established industry player is seeking a skilled Network Engineer to enhance their infrastructure. This role involves planning and implementing robust LAN and WAN solutions, ensuring seamless connectivity across remote sites. You'll leverage advanced protocols and tools to optimize performance, maintain high availability, and troubleshoot issues. Collaborating with various teams, you will lead projects and mentor junior engineers while staying updated on emerging technologies. If you're passionate about network performance and security, this opportunity is perfect for you.
Plan and implement LAN infrastructure, including VLAN segmentation, inter-VLAN routing, and redundancy mechanisms. Configure and maintain network switches, access points, and other LAN devices. Use QoS, traffic shaping, and other tools to optimize LAN performance and reduce latency. Identify and resolve LAN issues such as packet loss, latency, or misconfigurations.
Design and deploy WAN solutions like MPLS, SD-WAN, and VPNs to ensure connectivity between remote sites. Monitor WAN links for latency, packet loss, and bandwidth utilization using tools like SolarWinds or NetFlow. Configure backup links and failover mechanisms to ensure high availability. Work closely with Internet Service Providers to manage link provisioning, escalations, and SLAs.
Design and manage routing solutions using protocols such as OSPF, BGP, and EIGRP for efficient traffic routing. Implement advanced Layer 2/3 switching configurations, including Spanning Tree Protocol (STP), VLAN trunking, and EtherChannel. Configure HSRP, VRRP, or GLBP to ensure network redundancy and fault tolerance. Diagnose and resolve routing loops, misconfigurations, and suboptimal paths.
Plan and deploy wireless networks, ensuring robust coverage, capacity, and scalability. Configure and manage wireless access points (WAPs) and controllers for optimal performance. Conduct site surveys and resolve issues related to signal interference or weak coverage. Implement wireless security protocols (WPA3, 802.1X) and monitor for rogue devices.
Configure F5 BIG-IP LTM and GTM for load balancing across application servers and geographic locations. Use iRules and profiles to direct traffic and optimize application performance. Set up health monitors to ensure applications remain accessible even during server failures. Configure SSL/TLS offloading for secure and efficient application delivery. Use tools like SolarWinds, Wireshark, or Nagios to monitor network performance and troubleshoot issues.
Maintain up-to-date network diagrams, configurations, and troubleshooting procedures. Collaborate with security, application, and IT teams to align network infrastructure with business goals. Work with hardware and software vendors for procurement, upgrades, and support. Plan and execute firmware updates, hardware replacements, and capacity upgrades.
Lead network projects, such as upgrades, migrations, or expansions. Train and guide junior network engineers on best practices and troubleshooting techniques. Stay updated on emerging technologies and recommend solutions to improve network performance and security.
