Job summary
Energy Vault is seeking an experienced electrical engineer to oversee maintenance of 33kV & 132kV equipment and contribute to solar PV projects. The ideal candidate will have a background in high voltage systems, analytical skills, and be capable of troubleshooting and compliance checks. They should be able to work under pressure, maintain detailed records, and liaise with contractors. A competitive salary package and opportunities for continuous learning are available.
Qualifications
- Minimum 3–5 years’ experience in HV/MV substation operation and maintenance.
- Preferably with exposure in renewable energy (solar) projects.
- Familiar with TNB 132kV/33kV system design, operation and protection scheme.
- Good in computer literate and good communication skills.
- Willingness to be on standby/on-call and travel to remote solar farm sites.

Description- Plan and execute preventive maintenance of 33kV & 132kV equipment: transformers, GIS/AIS switchgears, circuit breakers, isolators, protection relays, CTs/VTs, earthing systems, etc.
- Attend electrical breakdowns related to IF equipment for solar PV systems and initiate fault diagnosis.
- Troubleshoot and rectify faults and alarms in interconnection equipment.
- Maintain records of maintenance schedules, checklists, and reports.
- Perform insulation resistance tests, contact resistance, transformer oil testing, primary/secondary injection tests, protection relay testing (e.g., distance, differential, overcurrent).
- Coordinate third-party testing or commissioning as required.
- Verify all maintenance outcomes performed by technicians and contractors. Ensure that the countermeasures applied are in accordance with standards, procedures and specifications allowed.
- Ensure compliance with TNB grid code, Single Buyer requirements, and Suruhanjaya Tenaga standards.
- Supervise or assist in switching and isolation procedures under Permit-to-Work (PTW).
- Participate in root cause analysis (RCA) for grid trips, voltage events, or system failures.
- Liaise with TNB/Grid Owner, EPC contractor, and O&M team for outage planning, fault restoration, grid synchronization, and grid shutdowns.
- Maintain updated SLDs, O&M manuals, testing records, and as-built drawings for HV equipment.
- Report writing for any incident case, schedule maintenance and product warranty claim.
- Provide monthly, quarterly, and annually operating reports on information about electricity production, efficiency, availability, maintenance performed, outages, results of inspections, manufacturer recommended services, replacements, control settings, or adjustments of equipment and protective devices.
- Liaise with vendors and contractors for any issues related to warranty and product quality issue.
- Support during emergency (24 hours).
- Support during Hari Raya and public holiday (if applicable).
Requirements- Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in Electrical Engineering / Power System / High Voltage Engineering.
- Minimum 3–5 years’ experience in HV/MV substation operation and maintenance.
- Preferably with exposure in renewable energy (solar) projects
- Excellent analytical, problem solving and reporting skills.
- Familiar with TNB 132kV/33kV system design, operation and protection scheme.
- Experience in HV testing tools: insulation resistance tester, contact resistance meter, relay test sets.
- Understanding of SCADA, PLC, and protection coordination.
- Knowledge of IEC standards, TNB SOP, grid code, and electrical safety regulations
- Chargeman BO/33kV or above (optional but added advantage).
- Safety Passport, Electrical Competency (e.g. Suruhanjaya Tenaga certification)
- Good in computer literate, communication and reporting skills.
- Able to work independently and under emergency situations.
- Willingness to be on standby/on-call and travel to remote solar farm sites
- Possess valid driving license D or GDL and able to base in Penang.
- Good communication in both Bahasa Malaysia and English (verbally as well as written).
- Physically and mentally strong and fit.
- Able to work on weekends and public holidays if required.
