Job description

Job Responsibilities

• Report to Quality System Manager or Laboratory Manager on microbiology and critical utilities trending.
• Perform microbiological testing for identified incoming samples according to Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) of sampling plan and test method.
• Complete Microbial Contamination Test Reports, Environmental Monitoring Reports, and others according to microbiological testing, providing compliance status based on microbiological test specifications.
• Establish SOPs and Specifications for microbiological testing methods.
• Conduct sampling and testing for environmental monitoring related to personnel hygiene and microbiology laboratory cleanliness.
• Provide trending reports as needed.
• Perform Growth Promotion Tests for all incoming medias for microbiological testing according to SOP.
• Develop and validate microbial contamination test methods, probiotic test methods, and environmental techniques.
• Maintain cleanliness and tidiness of the microbiology laboratory through proper practices for cleaning, waste disposal, and decontamination. Ensure compliance with Good Laboratory Practices at all times.
• Train new microbiology personnel in Good Laboratory Practices, Aseptic Techniques, Sampling Test Methods, and evaluate their competency.
• Participate in internal audits, regulatory audits, and audits by suppliers or customers regarding microbiological issues as needed.
• Perform internal calibration (verification) for apparatus (micro-pipettes) and equipment (weighing balances, incubators, etc.) used in the microbiology laboratory.

Job Requirements

• Possess at least a Bachelor's Degree in Microbiology or Biology.
• Have 1-2 years of relevant work experience.
• Knowledge of ISO 17025 and lab safety is an advantage.
• Familiar with laboratory procedures and practices related to microbiology analysis.
• Experience in method development and validation for microbiology analysis.
• Be dynamic, self-motivated, a good team player, and a fast learner.
• Possess analytical skills with a strong problem-solving attitude.
• Be proactive, versatile, with strong initiative, and able to work independently.
• Languages required: English and Bahasa Malaysia.
