Position Overview

TE Connectivity is seeking a MGR II MFG & PROCESS DVL AUTOMATION for Data & Device BU with location in Penang. The MPDE Automation Manager will lead a team of automation engineers tasked with developing assembly processes for high-speed cable assemblies and coordinating with the Penang manufacturing engineering team on the transition to mass production.

Long Description

Responsibilities:

  • Allocate and balance the allocation of work across direct reports; review and provide timely performance feedback to direct reports; mentor, develop, and motivate them; help resolve people/functional issues in the team to achieve targeted performance and retain key talent.
  • Lead a team of engineers who will:
    • Develop cable assembly automation lines in accordance with LEANPD product development
    • Drive for excellence in existing automation technologies and methods
    • Strive to implement new automation technologies to provide improved process and tolerance control
    • Support Product Development in the optimization designs (DFM) and piece parts for automation manufacturability; realize proof of concept tooling, product samples, and prototypes.
    • Design, develop, and qualify tooling and processes to meet TE Data and Devices quality and production standards.
    • Support supply chain to verify supplier compliance and capability.
  • Act as the binding element between product development and automation engineering, ensuring the effectiveness and efficiency of this critical interface.
  • Maintain communication with the project management team to understand current and future strategic business needs.
  • Prioritize and manage a portfolio of projects/work efforts based on criticality and business need.
  • Provide updates to Director and VP level cross-functional management as necessary.
  • Work with Penang operations team to assign resources necessary for the successful execution of new automation development.
  • Facilitate and coordinate cross-function communication across a globally matrixed organization.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or above in mechanical/electric related majors.
  • At least 5 years of related managerial experience in a multinational manufacturing site.
  • Familiar with Lean, Six Sigma, and other industrial methods/tools.
  • With 2 years or more work experience in cable assembly automation is preferred.
  • Fluent in English and possess good presentation skills.
  • Familiar with MS software.
  • Familiar with industrial specifications (e.g., IPC 620).
