Job summary

Smith+ Nephew Life Unlimited is offering a metrology intern position based on full-time, on-site work in Penang. The role targets undergraduates in Mechanical, Industrial, Manufacturing Engineering or Physics and values CAD, statistics, and measurement equipment experience.

You will support engineering projects, prepare reports for senior leadership, and help maintain procedures and forms while developing analytical and problem‑solving skills in a medical device setting.

Qualifications

• Open to undergraduate students in Mechanical, Industrial, Manufacturing Engineering or Physics or related disciplines.
• Position is based full-time on-site at Smith & Nephew Operations Sdn. Bhd. in Penang.
• Exposure to CAD software, statistical tools and measurement equipment is advantageous.

This internship role is designed for high-performing engineering students to gain hands-on experience through meaningful projects that support Smith+ Nephew's goals. The program provides valuable exposure to the medical device industry, professional development, and potential future career opportunities.

What will you be doing?

• Support engineering projects and studies under the guidance of managers.
• Prepare study plans, reports, and project presentations for senior leadership.
• Update and maintain procedures, work instructions, and forms.
• Conduct engineering studies, inspections, and statistical analyses.
• Perform calibration and verification activities.

What will you need to be successful?

• This internship opportunity is open to undergraduate students pursuing Mechanical, Industrial, Manufacturing Engineering, Physics, or related disciplines.
• The position is based full-time on-site at Smith & Nephew Operations Sdn. Bhd. in Penang.
• Candidates with exposure to CAD software, statistical tools, and measurement equipment will have an added advantage.
• The ideal candidate should possess strong analytical and problem-solving skills, attention to detail, the ability to interpret technical drawings and GD&T, good English communication skills, and a strong willingness to learn and work with data.
