MES Engineer

The role involves configuring MES to track and monitor real-time production data, process automation, quality control, and traceability. The MES Engineer works closely with IT, Production, Process Engineering, Automation, and Quality teams to optimize manufacturing efficiency and ensure seamless integration between ERP, automation systems, and shop-floor operations.

Key Responsibilities

1. Deploy, configure, and maintain MES software to support production tracking, quality control, and traceability.
2. Integrate MES with ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning), PLCs, SCADA, and other automation systems.
3. Configure MES workflows for production orders, work instructions, process control, and SPC (Statistical Process Control).
4. Ensure accurate real-time data collection from machines, test stations, barcode scanners, and IoT sensors.
5. Work with Process Engineers and Quality Engineers to analyze MES data and identify areas for improvement.
6. Ensure seamless data flow between MES, ERP, warehouse management, and automation systems.
7. Troubleshoot MES-related issues, including data inconsistencies, system failures, and user errors.
8. Collaborate with IT teams to ensure cybersecurity and data integrity in MES operations.
9. Identify and implement process automation solutions to improve MES efficiency.
10. Develop new system functionalities such as predictive maintenance, AI-driven analytics, and digital twin simulations.

Compliance & Documentation

1. Ensure MES supports regulatory and customer compliance requirements (ISO 9001, IATF 16949, IPC standards, etc.).
2. Support audits by providing traceability data from MES records.

Qualifications & Skills Required

1. Education & Experience

- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Network Engineering, or related field.
- 3+ years of experience in network engineering, preferably in a manufacturing or EMS environment.
- Hands-on experience with enterprise networking equipment (Cisco, Juniper, Fortinet, Aruba, Huawei, etc.).

2. Technical Skills

- Strong knowledge of networking protocols (TCP/IP, VLANs, OSPF, BGP, MPLS, etc.).
- Expertise in firewall configuration (Cisco ASA, Palo Alto, Fortinet, Check Point).
- Industrial networking experience (Ethernet/IP, Profinet, Modbus TCP, OPC UA).
- Wi-Fi deployment & optimization for factory environments.
- Experience with VPN, SD-WAN, cloud networking (AWS, Azure, GCP), and VoIP.
- Familiarity with network monitoring tools (SolarWinds, PRTG, Nagios, Wireshark).

3. Soft Skills

- Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
- Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced EMS factory.
- Excellent team collaboration with IT, engineering, and automation teams.
- Strong documentation and communication skills.
