The Day-To-Day Activities
- Overall Merchandising Strategy
- Developing and implementing comprehensive merchandising strategies to maximize sales, profitability, and brand image across all retail stores.
- Product Assortment Planning (in collaboration with other departments):
- While not directly responsible for buying, they would likely collaborate with procurement/buying teams to ensure the right products are available to support merchandising initiatives.
- Inventory & Stock Management Oversight (in collaboration with Warehouse & Logistic Manager): Ensuring optimal stock levels are maintained for visual merchandising purposes and sales, working closely with the Warehouse & Logistic Manager to facilitate product flow.
- Analysing sales data and trends to identify merchandising opportunities and make data-driven decisions to improve product performance.
- Leading and managing the Planogram & Visual Merchandiser team, providing guidance, training, and performance evaluations.
- Budget Management:
- Managing the budget allocated for merchandising activities, including fixtures, displays, and visual merchandising materials.
- Market Research & Competitor Analysis:
- Staying updated on market trends, competitor activities, and consumer preferences to inform merchandising strategies.
- Collaboration with Marketing:
- Working closely with marketing teams to align merchandising efforts with promotional campaigns and branding initiatives.
About You
- Candidate must possess at least a Degree in Business, Marketing, Retail Management, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5-7 years of progressive experience in retail merchandising, with at least 2-3 years in a managerial or supervisory role.
- Proven track record of developing and executing successful merchandising strategies that drive sales and improve profitability.
- Strong understanding of retail operations, inventory management principles, and visual merchandising best practices.
- Experience with sales data analysis and interpretation to identify trends and inform strategic decisions.
- Demonstrated ability to lead, mentor, and develop a team.
- Excellent communication (verbal and written), interpersonal, and presentation skills.
- Proficiency in merchandising software, planogram tools, and Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel and PowerPoint).
- Ability to work in a fast-paced retail environment and adapt to changing trends and priorities.
