Job description

Job Purpose

We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Merchandiser to join our team. The ideal candidate will focus on effective product placement, manage inventory efficiently, and collaborate with various teams to execute roadshows, marketing events, and exhibitions. This role also involves conducting market research, managing documentation, and supporting ad-hoc marketing initiatives to enhance our brand presence and drive sales.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Support marketing & sales representative in managing day-to-day merchandising activities against pre-set objectives
  • Prioritize and review daily merchandising activities performed
  • Execute merchandising activities for assigned businesses/territories, including product portfolios and marketing plan introductions, marketing display set-ups and in-store merchandising
  • Prepare and manage necessary documentation, including raising Purchase Requisitions (PR) and compiling budget waivers.
  • Oversee marketing sample inventory levels, ensuring optimal stock availability and minimizing excess.
  • Collaborate with suppliers and the purchasing team to maintain accurate inventory records and forecasts.
  • Coordinate logistics and set up for events, ensuring all materials and products are available and in good condition.
  • Responsible to ensure product availability, product visibility and optimized promotional impact in the events/exhibition and assigned retail outlets, within an assigned area.
  • Maintain relevant customer data in appropriate customer relationship management databases
  • Execute continuous improvement activities to enhance merchandising processes, merchandising plans, customer satisfaction, etc.
  • Support internal stakeholders in relationship development with key customers
  • Coordinate the development of patterns or mock-ups for new product designs.
  • Collaborating with suppliers and vendors to negotiate prices, quantities and timelines.
  • Assist with various marketing tasks as needed, supporting the marketing team in executing
  • Ad hoc task assigned by superior and management

Job Requirements:

  • SPM or equivalent/ Diploma/ Advanced Diploma/ Degree in Marketing, Management, Mass Communication, Public Relations, Business Administration, or its equivalent
  • Excellent oral and written English communication skills. Knowledge of both oral and written Bahasa Malay and Chinese languages would be an added advantage
  • Able to work independently and also a team player
  • Creative, proactive, aggressive and analytical with pleasant attitude
  • Enthusiastic, self-motivated, confident, and outgoing
  • Demonstrate basic knowledge and understanding of the industry/market/competitors/customers
  • Possess good interpersonal skills and able to establish productive relationships with people at all levels.
  • Able to manage multiple tasks/projects simultaneously
  • Able to work on Photoshop or Adobe Illustrator will be an added advantage.
  • Minimum 1 year working experience in a similar role, preferable with marketing/ merchandising experiences
  • Proven working experience in marketing/ merchandising
  • Up-to-date with the latest merchandising trends and best practices
  • Demonstrate fluency in local language and ideally in English, both written and spoken
  • Must be able to travel by car
