Job summary

NES Fircroft is seeking an MEP Engineer (Mechanical or Electrical) for a hyperscale data center project in Banting, Selangor. You will oversee and coordinate on-site MEP installation, testing, and commissioning, ensuring safety, quality, and schedule adherence.

The role requires 5–7 years in MEP construction and strong knowledge of HVAC, electrical distribution, and related systems. On-site work in Banting is expected.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Building Services Engineering.
• 5–7 years of experience in MEP construction or building services projects.
• Strong knowledge of HVAC, chillers, generators, electrical distribution, and critical infrastructure.
• Experience in industrial, manufacturing, semiconductor, oil & gas, infrastructure, or complex projects preferred.
• Data center experience is a plus.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management; proactive and willing to learn in data center sector.
• Willing to work on-site in Banting, Selangor.

Responsibilities

MEP Engineer (Mechanical / Electrical)

Our agency is looking for an MEP Engineer (Mechanical or Electrical) on behalf of our global PMC client supporting a hyperscale data center project in Banting, Selangor, Malaysia.

The Role

The MEP Engineer will be responsible for overseeing and coordinating mechanical or electrical installation works on site, ensuring systems are delivered in accordance with approved designs, quality standards, safety requirements, and project schedules. This role offers the opportunity to work on a large-scale, mission-critical data center project and gain exposure to hyperscale infrastructure development.

• Oversee and coordinate MEP construction, installation, testing, and commissioning activities on site.
• Monitor contractor performance, installation progress, workmanship quality, and compliance with project specifications.
• Review engineering drawings, technical submittals, method statements, and construction documentation.
• Coordinate with project teams, consultants, contractors, and vendors to resolve technical and site-related issues.
• Support QA/QC inspections and ensure work is carried out in accordance with approved standards and procedures.
• Assist with testing, commissioning, start-up activities, and project handover processes.
• Track construction progress and support the delivery of project milestones.
• Ensure compliance with safety requirements and industry best practices throughout project execution.

• Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Building Services Engineering, or a related discipline.
• 5-7 years of experience in MEP construction, site engineering, project engineering, or building services engineering.
• Strong technical knowledge of M&E systems, including HVAC, chillers, generators, electrical distribution systems, and critical infrastructure.
• Experience in industrial, manufacturing, semiconductor, oil & gas, infrastructure, or complex engineering projects is highly preferred.
• Data center experience is an advantage but not essential.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Proactive attitude with a willingness to learn and develop within the data center sector.
• Willing to work site-based in Banting, Selangor.
